The Operations Engineering Unit at eHealth Africa is a pivotal department focused on optimizing the organization’s technical infrastructure, systems, and operational workflows.
This unit plays a central role in supporting eHealth Africa’s mission by designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient processes and engineering solutions that enhance service delivery and organizational performance.

The Associate Engineer plays a vital role in implementing and optimizing technical and operational systems that enhance efficiency across eHealth Africa’s programs and infrastructure.
This position is responsible for executing data collection activities, maintaining workflow documentation, monitoring system performance, and supporting process improvement initiatives.
By actively contributing to the Operations Engineering Unit, the Associate strengthens the reliability and effectiveness of core operational systems, ensuring compliance, driving innovation, and fostering collaboration with internal teams and technical staff.
What You’ll Do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
Review daily operations data and maintenance logs for power, facility, and renewable energy systems to ensure alignment with engineering procedures and safety standards.
Check reports and documentation for completeness in support of power system reliability and infrastructure oversight.
Conduct routine inspections and scheduled preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and renewable energy systems in line with organizational protocols.
Execute operational support tasks, including system performance monitoring and basic servicing of facility equipment, ensuring continued functionality.
Notify engineering and operations teams of system status updates, maintenance activities, and any identified issues affecting infrastructure performance.
Report equipment faults, irregularities, and energy usage trends to supervisors and contribute to planning for system improvements.
Relay service requirements and technical specifications to vendors or technicians supporting power and facility maintenance.
Explain procedural expectations and safety standards to service providers during site activities and collaborative tasks.
Log system performance data, energy usage metrics, and maintenance activities in a timely manner to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
Conduct scheduled maintenance, testing, and support activities in accordance with operational timelines and team plans.
Maintain technical records, inspection checklists, and equipment servicing logs according to established engineering and data quality standards.
Organize and document infrastructure maintenance activities to ensure traceability and compliance with internal protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
1 - 2 years working experience in Operations Engineering, power systems maintenance, and technical infrastructure management, preferably in an NGO or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in using productivity tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive for tracking and reporting
Proficiency in English is required for both verbal and written communication.
