Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator (South) will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the R-WVL Nigeria Project in five Southern locations Enugu, Lagos, Cross River.
S/he will also provide technical and strategic support for national-level interventions and contribute to the overall success of the R-WVL Project.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities:
Work with the R-WVL project team to conduct Partnership Assessment Models of Local Women’s Rights Organisations (LWROs), networks, and movements in project states.
Develop a comprehensive capacity development strategy and plans to address gaps identified during LWRO/network/movement assessments.
Provide technical support and capacity strengthening for R-WVL Programme Officers 1 & 2 in report writing, concept note development, and proposal writing.
Support the design, establishment, and maintenance of grant processing and management strategies, plans, flowcharts, tools, and trackers, ensuring they are functional and effective.
Support the planning and successful delivery of the R-WVL Nigeria Annual Conference on Women’s Rights.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and hands-on support to LWROs/networks/movements to establish and enhance systems for planning, monitoring, and implementing initiatives that advance women’s and girls’ rights in Nigeria.
Offer technical assistance to LWROs to build the capacity of Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) at LGA level for effective implementation of gender equality interventions.
Support the granting process for LWROs/networks/movements and collaborate with the project management team to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
Ensure timely and effective data collection on all activities implemented by LWROs, CBOs, networks, and movements at the state level.
Support other ActionAid Nigeria units by providing technical reviews and inputs on women’s rights and gender equality deliverables.
Reporting and Accountability:
Submit timely and detailed reports to the Project Manager reflecting progress towards achieving project outputs and objectives.
Prepare concept notes for all programmatic activities for Line Manager’s approval.
Submit situational reports and other ad-hoc documentation as needed or requested.
Facilitate consistent and transparent sharing of project-related information among stakeholders.
Document and share success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
Recommend new opportunities for collaboration and strategic engagement beyond the scope of the R-WVL Nigeria
Financial Management:
Participate in the development of ActionAid Nigeria’s annual plans and budgets.
Submit accurate financial reports on funds released for state-level activities, ensuring compliance with AAN’s financial standards.
Support partners in preparing realistic budgets that are aligned with planned activities.
Contribute to fundraising efforts through the development of concept notes and funding proposals.
Representation and Fundraising:
Represent ActionAid Nigeria at the state and national levels, including attending key stakeholder meetings and policy dialogues.
Present ActionAid Nigeria’s work at relevant conferences and professional forums focused on women’s rights and gender equality.
Raise funds for women’s rights programming by developing and submitting proposals and implementing resource mobilization strategies.
Other Responsibilities:
Actively participate in the internal ActionAid Nigeria Women’s Rights Technical Working Group (WR TWG) to support the implementation of the ActionAid Feminist Agenda.
Contribute to ActionAid Nigeria’s Project Steering Committee meetings, providing updates on project performance and progress.
Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.
First Degree in social sciences or Arts / Humanities
Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable
Certification in Gender Development is desirable
Membership of a relevant professional institute is desirable
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years post-NYSC experience, including at least 4 years in a similar role within the development sector, with a strong focus on gender development and/or women’s rights
Experience working with Nigerian CSOs in implementing women’s rights projects
Proven experience managing grants at the state level
Experience in media relations is desirable
Experience in organizational capacity development, especially with civil society organizations is desirable
