We are seeking a highly competent and results-driven Mechanical Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical engineering projects from conception through completion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems, installations, and modifications are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
This role requires strong technical expertise combined with structured project management capability.
Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
Coordinate mechanical design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
Ensure project deliverables meet quality, safety, and technical standards.
Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Technical Oversight:
Review and approve mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
Provide technical leadership on mechanical systems including rotating equipment, piping systems, structural supports, and utility systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best engineering practices.
Support troubleshooting and problem resolution during installation and commissioning phases.
Budget & Cost Control:
Prepare cost estimates and project budgets.
Track expenditures and ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination:
Interface with contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal departments.
Supervise site activities and ensure adherence to approved engineering designs.
Participate in technical meetings and progress review sessions.
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all mechanical works are executed in accordance with HSE policies and regulatory standards.
Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe work procedures.
Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare and submit progress reports to management.
Maintain proper documentation of engineering changes and approvals.
Ensure accurate project records and handover documentation upon completion.
Educational & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical engineering project execution.
Proven experience managing engineering projects from initiation to completion.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design and implementation.
Experience in industrial, oil & gas, construction, or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
Applicants must possess:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Membership/Certification with the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN)
PRINCE2 Certification.
