Job Description

• The Card & Loans Business Manager will hold full executive responsibility for card and loan portfolio growth, revenue generation, risk governance, and customer acquisition across the organization.
• This role offers a boardroom-level mandate and requires a seasoned leader with the expertise to scale portfolios profitably, strengthen credit controls, and deliver measurable impact from the outset.

Responsibilities

• Lead all card and loan product strategies, including pricing, portfolio management, and risk controls.
• Develop and execute customer acquisition strategies for retail and SME segments.
• Manage full P&L for card and loan portfolios, driving revenue growth and margin optimization.
• Develop and oversee credit risk policies to maintain NPLs within prudent thresholds, aligned with CBN regulations.
• Launch innovative card and lending products aligned with market demand.
• Optimize distribution through digital channels and strategic partnerships.
• Establish and track KPIs, including portfolio size, revenue, NPL, and customer acquisition metrics.
• Deliver structured board-level reporting on portfolio performance, risk, and growth initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional teams, fostering high performance and execution excellence.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to align portfolio strategy with organizational goals.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, or related field.
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Professional certifications in credit, risk, or financial services advantageous.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in consumer lending, card business, or fintech banking.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior management role with full P&L and portfolio responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-billion Naira card/loan portfolios personally for at least 5 consecutive years.
• Demonstrated success in profitable product growth, ensuring NPLs are controlled within regulatory prudential standards.
• Experience in digital and partner acquisition channels.
• Ability to deliver measurable business impact within the first 90 days.
