Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a founding executive responsible for designing, building, and institutionalizing the entire finance architecture of the Bank from the ground up.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director/CEO and working closely with the Board, the CFO will provide strategic leadership across financial planning, capital management, regulatory compliance, treasury operations, and performance governance.
This role requires a hands-on yet strategic finance leader capable of transitioning a fintech microfinance bank from startup formation to regulatory stability, profitability, and scalable growth.
Responsibilities
Establish and lead the Bank’s end-to-end finance function including accounting, treasury, FP&A, tax, and regulatory reporting.
Design financial structures, policies, controls, and governance frameworks aligned with CBN microfinance banking regulations.
Build scalable finance infrastructure supporting digital banking and lending operations.
Lead capital planning, funding strategy, and investor engagement initiatives.
Implement liquidity management and Asset-Liability Management (ALM) frameworks.
Oversee financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
Develop financial dashboards supporting executive and board-level decision-making.
Ensure statutory reporting compliance with CBN, NDIC, FIRS, and relevant authorities.
Support product pricing strategy across loans, cards, deposits, and digital channels.
Establish cost discipline, financial transparency, and sustainable growth controls.
Lead external audit coordination and regulatory examinations.
Build and mentor a high-performing finance team from inception.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
Professional certification required (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CFA).
Microfinance Certification Programme (MCIB) is an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 12 years progressive finance experience within banking, fintech, or financial services.
Minimum of 7 years in senior finance leadership capacity.
Demonstrated experience setting up or restructuring finance operations in a startup or growth-stage institution.
Proven exposure to microfinance banking or digital lending environments.
Experience managing regulatory engagement with CBN and statutory bodies.
Track record of building finance teams, systems, and reporting structures from inception.
Experience supporting capital raising, balance sheet growth, or institutional scaling initiatives.
Other Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to establish finance structure within the first 90 days.
Strong entrepreneurial mindset with institutional discipline.

Capacity to operate both strategically and operationally in startup environments.
