Job Title: Specialist, Project and Lagos Field Office
Location: Lagos
Responsible to: Women’s Rights Specialist/ RWVL Project Specialist(dotted line to Director of People and Culture)
Line Management: Lagos office Program and Admin Team

Job Purpose
The Specialist, Project and Lagos Field Office will be based in ActionAid Nigeria Lagos office and responsible for the management of AAN’s projects – Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria, the MAP-GBV and RECONNECT) in the southern region as well as be responsible for managing the administration of Lagos field office.
On the R-VWL Nigeria Project, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and implementing in the following locations: Enugu, Lagos, Cross River.
The role will also provide technical and strategic support for national-level interventions and contribute to the overall success of the R-WVL Project
Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities:
Continue to lead the delivery of the RWVL, MAP-GBV and other projects in the southern region, in line with the approved project workplans. This includes:
Work with the R-WVL project team to conduct Partnership Assessment Models of Local Women’s Rights Organizations (LWROs), networks, and movements in project states.
Develop a comprehensive capacity development strategy and plans to address gaps identified during LWRO/network/movement assessments.
Provide technical support and capacity strengthening for R-WVL Programme Officers 1 & 2 in report writing, concept note development, and proposal writing.
Support the design, establishment, and maintenance of grant processing and management strategies, plans, flowcharts, tools, and trackers, ensuring they are functional and effective.
Support the planning and successful delivery of the R-WVL Nigeria Annual Conference on Women’s Rights.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and hands-on support to LWROs/networks/movements to establish and enhance systems for planning, monitoring, and implementing initiatives that advance women’s and girls’ rights in Nigeria.
Offer technical assistance to LWROs to build the capacity of Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) at the LGA level for effective implementation of gender equality interventions.
Support the granting process for LWROs/networks/movements and collaborate with the project management team to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
Ensure timely and effective data collection on all activities implemented by LWROs, CBOs, networks, and movements at the state level.
Participate in the AAN accountability processes, such as bi-annual and annual reporting to the donors, AAN Project Steering Committee meetings, annual planning and reporting, internal team meetings, etc.
Actively participate in the internal ActionAid Nigeria Women’s Rights Technical Working Group (WR TWG) to support the implementation of the ActionAid Feminist Agenda.
Contribute actively to report writing, data gathering, and documentation.
Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager(s).
Reporting and Accountability:
Contribute to the AAN Annual reporting
Develop concept notes for each programme activity for approval by the line manager.
Ensure strict compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines by all WROs and CBOs.
Submit situational and any other non-routine reports when necessary or when asked to
Facilitate the sharing of information among stakeholders.
Submit success stories or case studies on lessons learnt for sharing.
Identify and recommend opportunities for collaboration and other forms of engagement by AAN outside the ambit of the WVL-Nigeria project.
Financial Management and Resource Mobilisation:
Participate in and contribute to the development of AAN's annual plans and budgets
Submit timely financial reports on funds released for activities in the project, ensuring compliance with AAN financial reporting requirements.
Support partners to develop realistic budgets, linking budgets to planned and agreed activities.
Identify and follow up with private organisations for fundraising, including providing contacts, while working closely with the fundraising team in the Lagos office.
Actively source for and participate in fundraising activities for AAN, including developing concept notes and proposals.
Support the fund-raising team in Lagos to reach their targets, including providing oversight responsibility to them.
Ensure strict compliance with internal and external accountability system, including meeting deadlines, periodic reconciliation at AAN and partner level.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Manage the coordination of the Lagos field office and communications with HQ (Abuja)
Oversee the Front Desk Volunteer on store management, physical and electronic reference documents, filing systems, maintain the database of AAN contacts in the state, service providers and other administrative duties
Work with the Logistics Support Personnel/ Driver on facility and vehicle maintenance, under the line management of the Sponsorship Communications Advisor
Ensure the implementation of AAN policies and procedures in collaboration with the other Lagos staff
Be the focal person for ActionAid Nigeria in the Lagos regional office.
Representation:
Represent AAN in Lagos state – including attending meetings on behalf of AAN
Make presentations at professional meetings and conferences on matters related to all projects within the southern region in consultation with the WR Manager, Head of Programmes.
People Management:
Provide support to Line Managers to perform their functions effectively.
Ensure judicious use and management of AAN resources – ensuring compliance and effective control of resources.
Key Relationships:
Internal: Entire ActionAid Nigeria team
External: Project partners, donors, civil society organizations, and relevant government agencies.
First Degree in Social Sciences or Arts/Humanities
Master’s Degree in a relevant field is desirable
Certification in Gender Development is desirable
Membership of a relevant professional institute is desirable
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years post-NYSC experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role within the development sector, preferably in gender development and/or women’s rights work.
Experience working with the Nigerian CSOs in delivering gender and women’s rights interventions at the state levels
Experience in organisational capacity development, especially in civil society organizations.
Experience in office administration.
Experience in media relations is desirable.
Experience in grants management is desirable.
