Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Lead, Project Controls and QA/QC Engineer
The responsibility of the Lead, Project Controls and QA/QC Engineer is to establish and maintain robust project control frameworks that assure successful project delivery.
The role ensures that the resources required to execute multiple cross-functional engineering projects are effectively aligned with established control standards and governance requirements.
Additionally, the Lead, Project Controls and QA/QC Engineer is responsible for providing quality assurance and related support functions across projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively manage theproject control team, including cost engineers, planners and quality assurance and control.
Monitor and control program compliance with respect to project contractual obligations.
Support and advise on the definition of project controls and earned value management policies, procedures and standards required to deliver projects.
Support program integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, and project controls best practices.
Advise and consult on the application of effective planning variance, estimates at completion and critical path analysis.
Support the development of integrated master schedules for specific programs in Primavera and/or Microsoft projects that reflect all interface milestones and activity duration from multiple contractors’ schedules and feed changes to the integrated master schedule.
Provide project controls management, including baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, earned value management guidance and tools.
Work closely with the project manager, commercial manager and project quality assurance and control to maximise the potential of the project.
Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
Ensure project controls processes are consistently applied across the projects.
Manage governance to ensure robust control and schedule performance for the agreed scope of work across integrated programs managed across multiple suppliers.
Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
Undertake a data protection impact assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations
Ensuring the Project controls team produces weekly/monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar, providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances.
Develop and regularly update project LFIs.
To follow up on reported project deviations and non-conformances to ensure necessary corrective actions are adequately taken to prevent recurrence
To ensure the implementation of risk-based thinking in project management.
To propose recommendations to management for improvements and cost savings within the area of responsibility.
To conduct surveillance and reviews at project sites to maintain quality standards and requirements.
To ensure the implementation of risk-based thinking in project management.
Responsible for the overall health of the capital projects portfolio, and the development and application of a project management system
Responsible for maximising project value through an opportunity realisation process.
To carry out oversight quality functions on capital projects to ensure compliance with all quality standards.
Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on projects, ensure the integration of the IMS requirements (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) into departmental processes.
Engage, direct and support persons/contractors/departments to understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspect and Impact as it is related to their jobs.
Ensure that the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) achieves its intended results within departmental processes.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline,preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years cognate work experience in a similar role.
Postgraduate certification in Project Management is a must-have.
