Job Title: Video Editor

Location: Abuja

Position Summary

• We are seeking a meticulous and creative Video Editor to join our production team.
• The ideal candidate masters the art of "invisible editing"—seamlessly manipulating and assembling film pieces so the audience remains immersed in the story without noticing the technical work behind it.
• You will bridge the gap between production and post-production, ensuring continuity and narrative flow from raw script to final cut.

Key Responsibilities

• Invisible Storytelling: Manipulate and edit filmed footage in a way that feels natural and immersive, ensuring the editing work is invisible to the audience and serves the narrative.
• Assembly & Sequencing: Review shooting scripts and raw material to create a shot decision list based on each scene’s value and its contribution to overall continuity.
• Rough to Final Cuts: Trim footage segments, assemble the sequence of the film, and iteratively develop projects from rough cuts to final, polished deliverables.
• Audio & Visual Enhancement: Impute and synchronize music, dialogues, sound effects, and graphics. Perform color correction and apply visual effects as needed.
• Interpret Creative Briefs: Take detailed briefs from the production team and stakeholders to fully grasp project needs, specifications, and desired outcomes.
• Cross-Departmental Consultation: Consult with stakeholders throughout production and post-production processes to align on creative direction and technical requirements.
• Cross-Platform Output: Work closely with other creative team members to repurpose and produce content for the company’s website, social media pages (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), and other platforms as required.
• Quality Control: Diligently review final productions for errors in audio, visual, and narrative flow, ensuring that all final edits reflect the company’s brand identity and technical specifications.
• Technical Innovation: Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies, software updates, and industry best practices to maximize workflow efficiency and creative output.
• Asset Management: Organize and maintain project files, raw footage, and archives for easy retrieval and future use.

Required Skills & Experience

• Editing Mastery: Proven experience as a Video Editor with a strong portfolio demonstrating narrative flow, pacing, and "invisible" continuity editing.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of industry-standard editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro).
• Motion Graphics: Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects for basic motion graphics and title creation.
• Audio Engineering: Experience with audio mixing and cleaning (Adobe Audition, Audacity, or Logic Pro).
• Script-to-Screen Awareness: Ability to review a script and raw footage to determine the best shots for continuity and emotional impact.
• Experience with color grading software (DaVinci Resolve).
• Knowledge of compression standards and export settings for various digital platforms.
• Background in filming or cinematography.

Salary
N200,000 - N300,000 / month.
