Job Title: Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions

About the Role

• The successful candidate will serve as the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions, responsible for overseeing the company’s financial reporting framework, strategic planning, and investment growth initiatives.

• Experience with SEC or capital markets
• Board or executive reporting experience
• Exposure to corporate finance or investments
• Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CFA)

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Control:

• Develop and implement the company’s overall financial strategy, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
• Ensure compliance with SEC, FRCN, and other local regulatory requirements, maintaining robust corporate governance and internal controls.
• Manage accounting operations, cost control initiatives, and financial risk.
• Oversee cash flow, liquidity management, and short-term investment strategies to support operations.
• Collaborate with the investment team to monitor portfolio performance and align investment activities with approved risk frameworks.
• Coordinate annual audit processes and maintain effective relationships with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulators.

Strategic Leadership and Planning:

• Formulate and execute the company’s long-term and annual business strategies to drive growth and maximize shareholder value.
• Lead strategic initiatives and special projects aligned with corporate objectives.
• Utilize financial models to test and forecast the robustness of investment and business strategies.
• Provide strategic insights and financial advice to the CEO and Board on key financial and operational decisions.

Investment and Financial Management:

• Recommend and implement investment strategies that enhance fund value and profitability.
• Drive product development and process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and market competitiveness.
• Oversee capital planning, financial strategy, and budget development processes.
• Monitor financial performance, manage risk exposure, and ensure compliance with performance and reporting standards.

Team and Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate with the executive leadership team to ensure strategic alignment across the organization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop finance, investment, and strategy teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.
• Maintain strong relationships with investors, lenders, and key financial stakeholders.
• Provide regular reports to the CEO, Board, and relevant committees on strategy execution, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Liaise with regulators and industry stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices.

Educational Background and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, ACIS, or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in similar or related roles.

Core Requirements (Critical Skills):

• Strong understanding of financial services regulations, including IFRS, FRCN, and SEC compliance requirements.
• Skilled in strategic portfolio management, cost efficiency modeling, and scenario planning to support executive decision-making.
• Excellent knowledge of the Finance Act, Tax Act, and Investment and Securities Act, as well as other relevant Nigerian financial regulations.
• Proficient in digital finance tools and data analytics to enhance decision-making and reporting.
