We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Storekeeper

Location: Kano
Report to: Warehouse / Operations Manager

Job Purpose

• The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, recording, storing, and releasing goods in the warehouse.
• The role ensures that all raw goods, cleaned goods, and equipment are properly accounted for and stored safely.
• The Storekeeper must keep accurate records of goods coming into and leaving the warehouse and ensure the warehouse remains organized and secure.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Record Keeping:

• Keep accurate records of all raw goods, cleaned goods, and equipment stored in the warehouse.
• Maintain a stock register or record book showing the quantity of each product in the warehouse.
• Update records immediately when goods are received or taken out.

Receiving Raw Goods:

• Record all raw goods delivered to the warehouse on a daily basis.
• Count and confirm the number of bags received before accepting them.
• Ensure that goods received match the delivery note or instructions given.
• Report any shortages, damages, or inconsistencies to the supervisor immediately.

Monitoring Goods Sent for Cleaning:

• Record the number of raw bags taken out of the warehouse for cleaning.
• Track the number of cleaned bags returned to the warehouse.
• Maintain records of by-products such as siftings and kwallo generated during cleaning.
• Ensure the quantities returned match the quantities taken out and report any differences.

Goods Issuance and Shipment:

• Record all goods loaded out of the warehouse for transportation or delivery.
• Confirm the number of bags loaded before they leave the warehouse.
• Maintain proper documentation of all goods dispatched.

Warehouse Organization:

• Ensure that goods are properly arranged and stacked inside the warehouse.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the warehouse at all times.
• Ensure different products are stored separately and properly labeled.

Warehouse Security:

• Be responsible for opening the warehouse in the morning before work begins.
• Ensure the warehouse is properly locked and secured at the end of the workday.
• Prevent unauthorized persons from entering the warehouse.

Equipment and Materials Monitoring:

• Keep records of warehouse equipment such as weighing scales, pallets, and other materials.
• Report any damaged or missing equipment to the supervisor.

Reporting

• Prepare and submit a weekly report showing:
  • Total goods received
  • Total goods sent for cleaning
  • Total cleaned goods returned
  • Siftings and kwallo recorded
  • Goods dispatched for shipment
  • Report any unusual losses or shortages immediately.

Compliance and Safety:

• Follow warehouse safety procedures at all times.
• Ensure goods are stored in a way that prevents damage, contamination, or loss.
• Support periodic stock checks conducted by management.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a minimum of OND/HND.
• Basic ability to read, write, and record numbers accurately.
• Previous experience in warehouse or store keeping is an advantage.

Working Condition:

• Work is performed mainly inside the warehouse.
• The role may involve standing for long hours and supervising the movement of goods.

Accountability:

• The Store Keeper will be held responsible for any loss, shortage, or mismanagement of goods in the warehouse due to negligence or failure to properly maintain records.
