We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Facility Officer (Event Center & Suites)
We are looking to engage an experienced Facility Officer to oversee the day-to-day operational and maintenance activities of the event centre.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality at all times – both during and between events.
This role requires a proactive, hands-on professional with a proven track record in facility management within the events or hospitality sector who can independently manage technical teams, vendors, and client-facing operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily facility inspections across all event halls, restrooms, suites, and common areas, ensuring the entire facility is clean, functional, and event-ready at all times.
Oversee the maintenance and servicing of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems – including generators, air conditioning units, water pumping systems, and electrical installations – ensuring all defects are resolved before the next scheduled event.
Manage and supervise cleaning, janitorial, and technical staff, assigning duty schedules and rotations for both event days and inter-event periods, including ensuring minimum restroom staffing levels throughout all events.
Coordinate all event-related facility operations: oversee overnight set-up, maintain a physical presence during live events to manage real-time issues, and ensure prompt post-event tear-down and hall restoration.
Manage facility-related risk and emergencies – including fire outbreaks, power failures, and water supply disruptions – implementing immediate contingency measures and communicating outcomes to management and clients.
Liaise with clients, event coordinators, and vendors on all facility matters, ensuring clear communication on facility conditions, damages, and any associated charges before and after each event.
Manage vendor relationships and regulatory compliance, coordinating with service providers, LAWMA (waste management), LASMA, and other relevant agencies to ensure smooth operations and adherence to environmental and local regulations.
Maintain daily facility checklists and management reports, track facility-related expenditures, raise timely requisitions for spare parts and consumables, and leverage available technology tools to document and report on facility activities.
Qualifications & Experience
A degree or diploma in Facility Management, Estate Management, Engineering, or a related field. A professional certification from IFMA (International Facility Management Association) or equivalent is an added advantage.
3 – 5 years of verifiable experience in facility or operations management within an event centre, hotel, or hospitality facility.
Demonstrated hands-on experience managing technical teams (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, janitorial) within an events or hospitality environment.
Practical experience handling real-time facility emergencies (fire, water, power) and developing effective solutions under pressure.
Familiarity with Lagos regulatory agencies, including LAWMA, LASMA, and relevant local compliance requirements.
Basic proficiency in reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets, and standard communication platforms.
