Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will provide strategic financial leadership and oversight for the Bank and will be responsible for building the finance function from inception.
As a founding member of the executive management team, the successful candidate will design and implement the financial architecture of the institution, including financial policies, accounting systems, regulatory reporting frameworks, treasury management processes, and internal financial controls.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Board, the CFO will establish the financial structure required to support a scalable, compliant, and sustainable digital microfinance bank.
Responsibilities
Finance Function Establishment:
Build and structure the Bank’s finance and accounting department from the ground up.
Develop financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Establish accounting systems and financial reporting infrastructure.
Design financial control processes aligned with regulatory standards.
Financial Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement the Bank’s financial strategy aligned with institutional objectives.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making.
Monitor financial performance against institutional targets.
Financial Management & Reporting:
Oversee preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Develop internal financial reporting frameworks for management oversight.
Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
Ensure compliance with CBN regulations, NDIC guidelines, and microfinance banking standards.
Manage regulatory reporting and statutory financial disclosures.
Liaise with regulators, auditors, and other financial stakeholders.
Maintain strong financial governance and control frameworks.
Treasury & Liquidity Management:
Oversee treasury operations, liquidity planning, and asset-liability management.
Manage cash flow, capital planning, and funding requirements.
Monitor capital adequacy and financial risk exposures.
Support investment and financial optimization strategies.
Risk Management & Internal Controls:
Establish strong internal financial control systems.
Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Support internal and external audit processes.
Ensure proper documentation and financial audit readiness.
Leadership & Organizational Development:
Recruit, develop, and lead the Bank’s finance and accounting team.
Promote strong financial discipline and governance culture.
Support cross-functional collaboration across operational units.
Contribute to executive decision-making and institutional strategy.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines
Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent is required.
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 12 years’ experience in finance or financial management.
At least 7 years in senior financial leadership roles.
Experience within banking, fintech, or financial services is required.
Proven experience establishing or strengthening financial structures is highly desirable.

Remuneration
Salary: N800,000 - N110,000 monthly.
