Job Title: Head of Sales (Insurance)

Position Overview
The Head of Sales is responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and client acquisition for Advocate Insurance Brokers across all product lines (corporate, retail, and specialized insurance solutions).
The role provides strategic leadership to the sales team, develops and executes sales plans, and ensures strong client relationships and high renewal rates in line with the company’s business objectives
The Head of Sales will oversee business development, key account management, channel partnerships, and sales operations to ensure consistent achievement of sales targets and profitability for the brokerage.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Business Growth:
Develop and implement sales strategies and annual sales plans aligned with the company’s vision and revenue targets.
Identify new markets, sectors, and segments for insurance brokerage services and drive expansion initiatives.
Set sales targets, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
Drive cross-selling and upselling initiatives across product lines and customer segments.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:
Lead the acquisition of new corporate and retail clients through prospecting, networking, and strategic partnerships.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers, client organizations, and industry stakeholders.
Oversee preparation and presentation of proposals, bids, and renewals to secure and retain business.
Ensure prompt resolution of client issues, claims-related escalations, and service complaints in collaboration with operations and claims teams.
Product & Market Development:
Work with underwriting partners and internal teams to design and position competitive insurance solutions for clients.
Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting the insurance market.
Provide market intelligence and feedback to management to support product innovation and pricing strategies.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to the sales team (relationship managers, marketers, and business development officers.
Conduct regular sales meetings, pipeline reviews, and performance reviews to track progress and address gaps.
Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and ethical selling practices.
Sales Operations & Reporting:
Oversee sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting to management.
Ensure proper documentation of all sales activities, client interactions, and contracts in line with company policies.
Collaborate with finance to track revenue, margins, and collections from clients.
Ensure compliance with NAICOM and other regulatory requirements related to insurance brokerage sales activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Marketing, or related field.
Professional qualification (e.g., CIIN or other relevant insurance certifications) is a strong advantage.
7–10 years relevant experience in insurance brokerage or insurance company sales, with at least 3–5 years in a senior sales leadership role
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets within the insurance or financial services sector.

Deep understanding of insurance products, brokerage operations, and market dynamics in Nigeria.
Excellent client relationship management and negotiation skills.
Strong business development, networking, and presentation skills.
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
