ECWA Hospital, Egbe, a division of ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All), is a rural teaching hospital established in 1952 and located in Egbe, Kogi State, Nigeria. The hospital serves a 100-mile radius of villages and small towns in a poor area. It is a 110-bed hospital on a 32-acre complex that includes 5 wards for patients, 3 Operating rooms, a Maternity ward, an Under-fives clinic, an Eye care center, an HIV/AIDs counseling center, a Physiotherapy clinic, and a dental clinic. The hospital runs a 24-hour emergency and intensive care unit. The hospital has an X-ray department with digital radiology including portable X-ray, outpatient and bedside ultrasound services, electrocardiography, gastroscopy, and HSG.

Job Title: Consultant, Family Medicine
Location: Egbe, Kogi
Job Description
The Consultant Family Physician is one who has completed postgraduate training (residency training) in the field of Family Medicine and has been conferred the title of either Fellow of the WACP or Fellow of the NPMCN, or both.
The candidate is responsible for the day-to-day facets of the residency program, including administrative, clinical, and training duties, and reports to the Medical Director.
They are expected to participate in hospital community life to add value to colleagues and support best practices.

Assist in the administrative operation of the Family Medicine Residency Program.
Participate in hospital community life, seeking to add value to colleagues, and support best practices.
Set an example of excellence and service to residents, hospital staff, and patients.
Clinical Duties:
Assess patients in the outpatient department and also supervise all the resident doctors in the outpatient department, in order to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment of patients in the OPD.
Assess all patients seen by the junior doctors in the emergency room and make inputs in their managements, where necessary
Monitor and supervise resident doctors overseeing patients in the wards and ensure they are managed according to current guidelines.
Perform procedures and surgery within the scope of family medicine.
Support the hospital’s clinical services and work in collaboration with the medical management for the provision of quality medical care.
Training Duties:
Mentor the Family Medicine residents and encourage leadership potential and spiritual growth.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies/procedures that guide and support the Family Medicine residency program.
Coordinating residency schedules with the chief resident
Prepare the Family medicine residents for examinations at Part 1 and Part 2 level respectively.
Coordinating the visiting consultant’s schedules with the HOD of Family Medicine.
Coordinating/Supervising other residency programs such as morning reports, resident lectures, journal club, resident rounds, ward rounds/bedside teaching, consultant lectures, radio shows, and other programs as announced.
Attending training that keeps the consultant abreast of happenings in both post-graduate colleges. These programs include the Training of Trainers (TOT) conference, the SOFPON (Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria) conference, and other conferences organized for Consultant Family Physicians in Nigeria.
Administrative Duties:
Assist in the administrative operation of the Family Medicine residency program.
Liaise with the management team and hospital for residency program needs.
Annual residency program budget and other duties as the need arises
Qualifications & Experience
M.B.B.S.
National Youth Service or Exemption Certificate
Christian with a heart to serve and see the gospel make a difference in the lives of patients and colleagues.
Minimum of 3 years licensed experience in Family Medicine within recognized medical practices.
Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and/or West African College of Physicians.
Fluent in Yoruba
Previous experience in a Mission Hospital will be an advantage.
Able to work under pressure.
Compassionate and polite; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with a missional focus.
Ability to participate in the delivery of the hospital’s vision and mission.
