We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Water Treatment Specialist

Location: Emene, Enugu
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

• The Water Treatment Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective treatment, quality control, and management of water used across all operational units, including feed production, boiler systems, hatchery, processing plants, and refinery operations.
• The role ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards while optimizing water usage and system efficiency.

Key Accountability
Water Treatment Operations:

• Monitor and control water treatment processes (filtration, softening, chlorination, reverse osmosis, etc.).
• Ensure consistent supply of treated water for production and domestic use.
• Maintain water quality standards suitable for industrial and agricultural applications.

Boiler & Industrial Water Management:

• Manage boiler water treatment to prevent scaling, corrosion, and contamination.
• Conduct regular testing of boiler water, cooling systems, and condensate return systems.
• Ensure optimal performance of water systems in feed mills, farms, refinery, and processing units.

Water Quality Testing & Compliance:

• Perform routine laboratory testing (pH, TDS, hardness, microbial content, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards (e.g., NESREA, local health authorities).
• Maintain accurate records of water quality reports and treatment logs.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversee maintenance of water treatment plants, pumps, pipelines, filters, and dosing systems.
• Identify faults and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
• Ensure proper chemical dosing and handling procedures.

Wastewater & Effluent Management:

• Monitor and manage wastewater treatment systems.
• Ensure safe disposal or recycling of effluent in line with environmental standards.
• Support sustainability initiatives on water reuse and conservation.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure safe handling and storage of water treatment chemicals.
• Enforce HSE policies related to water treatment operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly water treatment reports.
• Maintain logs of chemical usage, equipment performance, and maintenance schedules.
• Provide recommendations for system improvements and cost optimization.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Compliance with water quality standards
• Reduction in system downtime due to water-related issues
• Efficiency of water usage and treatment processes
• Timeliness and accuracy of reports
• Equipment uptime and maintenance effectiveness.
