Job Title: Lawyer (Legal Officer)

Job Description

• We are a reputable and fast-growing finance house based in Ikoyi, Lagos, committed to delivering innovative financial solutions to individuals and businesses.
• As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Legal Officer to strengthen our legal and compliance framework.

Role Summary

• The Legal Officer will provide legal support across the organization by ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations, reviewing contracts, managing legal documentation, and advising management on legal risks relating to the company’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, loan agreements, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal advisory support on matters relating to financial services, lending operations, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure the company complies with relevant financial and corporate regulatory requirements.
• Manage legal documentation and maintain an organized repository of all corporate legal records.
• Liaise with external solicitors and regulatory bodies when required.
• Support the credit and operations teams on legal matters relating to loan recovery and enforcement.
• Conduct legal due diligence on potential transactions, partnerships, and investments.
• Identify and mitigate potential legal risks in the company’s operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and BL qualification with admission to the Nigerian Bar.
• 5 years post-call experience, preferably within a finance house, financial institution, or reputable law firm.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, financial regulations, and contract drafting.
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a finance house, bank, or financial services firm.
• Knowledge of loan documentation and credit recovery processes.
