The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all production operations, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes, optimal resource utilization, and consistent product quality.
The role involves planning, coordinating, and controlling production activities to meet organizational targets while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized, results-driven, and experienced in managing production within a fast-paced operational environment.
Role Responsibilities
Production Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement production plans to meet demand and delivery timelines.
Coordinate production schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Monitor production output and adjust schedules as needed to meet targets.
Production Operations Management:
Oversee daily production activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Ensure proper utilization of machinery, equipment, and workforce.
Identify and resolve operational issues to avoid delays and disruptions.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Ensure all products meet established quality standards and specifications.
Implement quality control processes and conduct routine inspections.
Address defects, non-conformities, and implement corrective actions.
Resource and Cost Management:
Monitor and control production costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
Optimize the use of raw materials to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Collaborate with procurement to ensure the timely availability of materials
Team Supervision and Leadership:
Supervise production staff, including operators and supervisors.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure productivity targets are met.
Train and develop team members on production processes and safety standards.
Promote discipline, teamwork, and a high-performance culture.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Maintain a safe working environment for all production staff.
Conduct safety inspections and enforce compliance with safety policies.
Maintenance and Equipment Management:
Ensure regular maintenance and proper functioning of production equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
Report and address equipment faults promptly.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production performance reports.
Track key metrics such as output levels, efficiency, and downtime.
Report production challenges and provide improvement recommendations.
Process Improvement and Efficiency:
Identify opportunities to improve production processes and efficiency.
Implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production
Experience/Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Engineering, Production Management, Industrial Technology, or related field
Minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience in production or manufacturing operations
Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial environments is an added advantage
Strong understanding of production planning, quality control, and safety standards
Professional certification in Production/Operations Management is an added advantage

Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing processes

Strong leadership and team management ability
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
Knowledge of quality control standards and safety regulations
