Job Brief

• We seek to recruit an experienced professional for the role of Financial Controller (FC), who will join the team in enhancing operational activities in our projects.

Job Description

• The Financial Controller is to establish and maintain robust financial controls, reporting systems, and accounting operations for our client’s three business units (Precast Factory, Terra Pave Roads, Quarry).  
• The Financial Controller will ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and support the General Manager in managing the company's financial health through the critical startup phase and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls:

• Establish and maintain accounting systems for three business units
• Prepare monthly management accounts within 10 working days of month-end
• Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting
• Ensure proper cost allocation across business units (factory, roads, quarry)
• Maintain fixed asset register for all equipment (existing + new CAPEX)
• Prepare variance analysis reports comparing actuals to budget

Regulatory & Tax Compliance:

• Ensure timely filing of all tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT, PAYE) with NRS and State
• authorities
• Maintain compliance with Nigerian tax laws and regulations
• Prepare documentation for external audits
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies
• Ensure proper remittance of statutory deductions (pension, NHF, NSITF)

Treasury & Cash Management:

• Monitor daily cash position and prepare cash flow forecasts
• Process payments and ensure proper authorization
• Manage bank relationships and reconciliations
• Implement strict working capital controls
• Support the General Manager in managing cash flow

Project & Contract Accounting:

• Establish project costing for POCs and road contracts
• Track project profitability and cost overruns
• Manage milestone billing and advance payment accounting
• Ensure proper revenue recognition per contract terms
• Maintain records for contract compliance

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Support the General Manager in annual budgeting process
• Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts
• Track actual performance against budget
• Provide financial analysis for management decisions
• Support preparation of investor reports

Payroll & Accounts Management:

• Oversee payroll processing and statutory remittances
• Manage accounts payable and receivable
• Ensure timely invoicing and collection follow-up
• Maintain vendor and customer ledgers
• Reconcile inter-company transactions with Company Group

Professional Qualifications
Essential:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional Certification: ICAN or ACCA (fully qualified) - MANDATORY
• Experience: 5-7 years in financial accounting, with minimum 3 years in manufacturing, construction, or related industry
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction materials, government contracting, or project accounting
• Systems Experience: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems); advanced Excel skills
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws, NRS regulations,
• and statutory requirements
• Language: Fluent English language advantageous

Desirable:

• Experience with startup or turnaround situations
• Background in vertically integrated businesses
• Knowledge of cost accounting for manufacturing
• Experience with government contract accounting
• Audit experience (external or internal)
• Experience with multi-entity accounting

• Successful completion of first external audit
• Variance analysis reports delivered with actionable insights
• Implementation of project costing for all POCs and contracts.

Salary
N25 million / annum (all inclusive).
