Job Title: Letting & Property Officer

Location: Sangotedo, Lagos

Description

• We are looking for an experienced Letting & Property Officer to manage our property portfolio and oversee the full letting process in strict compliance with the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011.
• The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of landlord and tenant rights, excellent client management skills, and a proven track record in the Lagos property market.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full letting cycle including property listings, tenant sourcing, viewings, screening, and execution of tenancy agreements in compliance with Lagos State tenancy laws.
• Ensure all tenancy agreements comply with the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011, including lawful rent collection practices and proper notice periods.
• Advise landlords and tenants on their respective rights and obligations under the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011, particularly regarding the prohibition of rent collection beyond one year in advance for residential properties.
• Handle tenancy renewals, rent reviews, and negotiations professionally and within legal frameworks.
• Conduct thorough property inspections at check-in, mid-term, and check-out stages and document findings accurately.
• Coordinate property maintenance and repairs by liaising with approved contractors to ensure timely resolution.
• Ensure all managed properties meet habitability and safety standards as required under Lagos State housing regulations.
• Manage tenancy disputes and eviction processes strictly in accordance with the Lagos State Tenancy Law, ensuring matters are referred to the Rent Tribunal where applicable rather than resorting to self-help eviction.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all properties, tenancies, and compliance documentation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords and tenants, serving as the primary point of contact for complex queries and disputes.
• Support business development by growing the agency's managed property portfolio.
• Mentor and guide junior letting staff and contribute to team performance.

Qualifications

• A Degree or professional qualification in Estate Management, Law, or a related field.
• Registration with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) or the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON).
• Experience handling Rent Tribunal proceedings or tenancy dispute resolution.
• Prior team leadership or supervisory experience.

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of experience in property letting or management, preferably in Lagos.
• Sound knowledge of the Lagos State Tenancy Law 2011 and the Lagos State Rent Control and Recovery of Residential Premises Law.
• Familiarity with the role and procedures of the Lagos State Rent Tribunal.
• Understanding of landlord obligations regarding property habitability, notice to quit, and lawful recovery of premises.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a large property portfolio independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software.

Salary
N150,000 / month.
