Job Title: Heavy Duty Equipment Rewire Mechanic

Location: WAWA, Niger

Description

• A Heavy Equipment Rewire Mechanic (or Heavy Equipment Electrician) isa specialized technician responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and installing electrical systems in heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, cranes, loaders, and mining equipment.
• They focus on electrical systems, wiring harnesses, computerized controls, and troubleshooting complex faults to maximize machine uptime

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshooting faulty wiring, connectors, lighting, and electrical components using computerized diagnostic tools and schematics.
• Rewiring and Harness Replacement: Removing old or damaged wiring harnesses and installing new electrical systems in heavy-duty machinery.
• Component Troubleshooting: Repairing or replacing solenoids, starter motors, alternators, sensors, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
• Preventative Maintenance: Conducting inspections on electrical systems to prevent failures, including cleaning, tightening connections, and checking for wear.
• Schematic Reading: Interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics to locate faults.
• Field Service Support: Responding to on-site service calls at job sites to fix downed equipment, often in demanding environments.
• Record Keeping: Documenting repairs, parts used, and time spent in work order systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, specifically focusing on electrical systems (often 5-6+ years).
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of electrical circuits, multiplexing systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Tools: Proficient in using digital multimeters, diagnostic software, and electrical repair tools.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work in tight, awkward spaces, climb on equipment, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Licensing: Valid Class A or B operator’s license is often required for field service vehicles.
