Job Summary

• Dangote Cement Plc is seeking a Deputy General Manager, Mechanical for its Power Plant operations.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance of the power plant and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of equipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for all plant equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, gas generators, gas compressors, DM plant, Chiller, cooling tower, and auxiliary systems.
• Plan and coordinate major overhauls, shutdowns, and inspections.
• Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers, technicians, and support staff.
• Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure maximum plant availability and reliability by minimizing downtime and responding promptly to equipment failures.
• Implement maintenance best practices and modern techniques to optimize plant performance.
• Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Monitor and control maintenance expenses while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and hazards.
• Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and OEMs for procurement of spares, services, and maintenance support.
• Evaluate contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and performance data.
• Prepare periodic maintenance reports and present them to senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 24 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within power plant operations.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of power plant systems, including gas turbines, gas generators and electrical systems.
• Proficient in SAP System
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance approaches.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant maintenance management software.
