Job Description
The Group HR Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and standardizing all human resources operations across the subsidiaries of MsheL Group.
This role ensures that HR strategies, policies, and practices are aligned with the Group’s overall business objectives, legal compliance, and organizational culture.
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence in talent management, employee relations, performance management, compensation & benefits, and HRIS deployment across diverse business units, fostering synergy while respecting subsidiary-specific nuances.
Key Responsibilities
Group HR Strategy & Governance:
Develop and implement a unified Group HR strategy that supports MsheL Group’s growth and diversification goals.
Establish, review, and enforce Group-wide HR policies, procedures, and SOPs to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal compliance across all subsidiaries.
Act as the primary advisor to the Group CEO and subsidiary heads on all people-related matters.
Lead HR due diligence for any new acquisitions or subsidiary integrations.
HR Operations Across Subsidiaries:
Oversee the end-to-end HR operations (hire-to-retire) for all subsidiaries, including payroll, attendance, leave management, and employee records.
Ensure each subsidiary operates in compliance with local labor laws.
Standardize and centralize HR shared services where beneficial (e.g., payroll processing, contract management).
Conduct regular HR audits across subsidiaries to identify risks and operational gaps.
Talent Management & Acquisition:
Lead Group-wide workforce planning and budgeting in collaboration with subsidiary heads.
Drive a unified talent acquisition strategy for leadership and niche roles, supporting local HR teams for volume hiring.
Implement a Group-wide onboarding and induction program that reflects MsheL Group’s culture and values.
Manage the Group’s succession planning and critical talent retention frameworks.
Performance & Rewards Management:
Design and implement a consistent performance management system (KPIs, OKRs, annual reviews) across all subsidiaries.
Develop a Group compensation & benefits framework that balances equity, market competitiveness, and subsidiary affordability.
Manage Group-wide incentive schemes, bonuses, and long-term reward programs.
Oversee annual salary reviews and benchmarking exercises.
Employee Relations & Culture:
Foster a strong, unified Mshel Group culture while allowing for local relevance.
Serve as the escalation point for complex employee relations cases, disputes, and disciplinary hearings across subsidiaries.
Drive employee engagement surveys and action planning at Group level.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the Group.
Learning & Development:
Identify Group-wide training needs and coordinate leadership development programs.
Establish an internal mobility framework enabling employees to move across subsidiaries.
Manage the Group’s L&D budget and external training partnerships.
HR Technology & Analytics:
Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of a Group-wide HRIS (Human Resource Information System).
Develop a Group HR dashboard with key metrics (turnover, time-to-hire, training ROI, etc.) for executive decision-making.
Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy compliance across all HR systems.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in HRM) is strongly preferred.
Professional Certifications:
CIPM, SHRM-SCP, SPHRI is an added advantage.
Experience:
8–12 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years in a Group HR role or regional HR leadership role managing multiple entities/locations.
Proven experience in managing HR across 3+ subsidiaries (preferably in industries like construction, energy, logistics, manufacturing, or FMCG).
Strong track record of implementing HRIS and standardizing HR processes.
Experience working in multiple African countries or emerging markets is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of labor laws in [e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, UAE].
Proficiency in HRIS platforms (e.g., SeamlessHR, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Workday).
Advanced Excel and HR analytics skills.
Core Competencies:
Strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution.
Stakeholder management – ability to influence subsidiary MDs and local HR teams.
Change management – leading standardization without creating resistance.
