Job Title: Production Supervisor (Cutting and Bending)

Location: Gbagada, Lagos

Job Description

• The Production Supervisor (Cutting & Bending) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the cutting and bending section of JMG Limited’s fabrication workshop.
• This role ensures that all metal components (mild steel, stainless steel, etc.) required for generator enclosures, base frames, and exhaust systems are produced accurately, safely, and according to engineering specifications.
• The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in plate fabrication and a focus on quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the cutting and bending processes to ensure the timely preparation of materials for generator frame assembly and panel mounting.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to program and set up machines (e.g., CNC plasma cutters, guillotines, press brakes, angle rollers).
• Plan daily work schedules for the team, allocating resources to meet the production targets set by the Production Manager.
• Ensure all cut and bent components meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards as per JMG’s engineering designs.
• Oversee the proper usage of fabrication machinery.
• Implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all cutting and bending equipment to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot basic machine errors and coordinate with the maintenance team for major repairs.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of machine operators, fabricators, and assistants.

Qualifications

• Minimum: OND (Ordinary National Diploma) in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
• Preferred: HND or BSc.in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5-7yearsof experience in a metal fabrication or heavy machinery manufacturing environment.
• At least2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadman capacity.
• Industry Specific:Experience in a generator manufacturing, automotive assembly, or structural steel fabrication company is highly advantageous.
• Blueprint Reading:Advanced ability to read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings.
• Machinery Expertise:Hands-on experience operating and programming:
  • CNC Plasma / Oxy-fuel cutting machines.
  • Hydraulic Guillotines and Shearing machines.
  • Press Brakes (Bending machines).
  • Section Benders and Angle Rollers.
