Job Title: Subject Matter Expert, Digital Health

Purpose of the Position
The Subject Matter Expert, Digital Health provides deep technical expertise in digital health systems, strategies, and innovations to support eHealth Africa’s business development efforts.
The role bridges technical delivery teams and business development, ensuring that proposed solutions are innovative, evidence‑based, and implementable in resource-constrained settings.
By engaging with donors, partners, and internal teams, the SME strengthens eHA’s positioning as a leader in digital health across sub‑Saharan Africa.
What You’ll Do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead the technical design and writing of digital health components in proposals, concept notes, and capability statements, ensuring donor competitiveness and alignment with global standards.
Develop solution architectures and implementation approaches that are evidence‑based, scalable, and tailored to resource‑constrained settings.
Translate complex digital health concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences, including donors, governments, and partners.
Monitor global and regional digital health trends, donor priorities, and funding opportunities to inform business development strategy and positioning.
Conduct competitive analyses and landscape assessments to strengthen eHA’s digital health value proposition.
Advise business development teams on opportunity evaluation, providing technical feasibility assessments and go/no‑go recommendations.
Represent eHA as a thought leader in digital health at conferences, working groups, and donor meetings, showcasing organizational expertise.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with government ministries, multilateral agencies, technology vendors, and implementing partners to co‑design solutions.
Collaborate with program teams, engineering, and delivery units to ensure proposed solutions reflect organizational capacity and lessons learned from implementation.
Support costing and budgeting processes for technical components of proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with donor expectations.
Maintain and expand a repository of reusable technical content, case studies, and lessons learned to accelerate proposal development and organizational learning.
Identify opportunities to integrate emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, interoperability frameworks) into eHA’s solution offerings.
Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and data governance standards, safeguarding sensitive health information.
Prepare, validate, and maintain project documentation, dashboards, and reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility for stakeholders.
Contribute to organizational learning by synthesizing insights from digital health initiatives and embedding best practices into future project design.

Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, International Development, or related field.
Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in digital health, health systems strengthening, or health informatics, with at least 3 years in business development, proposal writing, or technical advisory role.
Demonstrated track record of contributing to winning proposals for major international donors (USAID, DFID/FCDO, WHO, Global Fund, BMGF, etc.).
Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa, with strong understanding of the digital health ecosystem in Nigeria and the broader West Africa region.
Proficiency in EHR, HIE, DHIS2, mHealth, telemedicine, HL7 FHIR, OpenHIM, ICD‑10/11, AWS, and Azure.
Fluency in English (spoken and written) required; fluency in French is a significant advantage.
