Job Title: Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer

Job Summary
The NOC Engineer is responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining the network infrastructure to ensure seamless internet service delivery to customers.
This role involves troubleshooting network issues, ensuring maximum network uptime, and responding to service outages. The NOC Engineer works closely with other departments, such as the network, IT, and customer support teams, to ensure the ISP's network remains operational and performs optimally.
Responsibilities
Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitor network performance using various network management tools and systems to identify and address issues.
Ensure all network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) are up and running.
Perform regular checks on network health and performance, ensuring all systems meet required performance standards.
Troubleshoot network problems and outages, escalating complex issues to senior engineers when necessary.
Incident Management and Response:
Respond to network incidents, outages, and service degradation reports from both internal and external users.
Create and track trouble tickets, documenting all incidents and the actions taken to resolve them.
Work on incident resolution within defined SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders to provide status updates and resolution timelines.
Network Troubleshooting:
Diagnose issues in routing, switching, and internet-related protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
Perform root cause analysis of network outages and provide recommendations for preventive measures.
Use tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, and other monitoring tools for in-depth network analysis.
System Upgrades and Patching:
Apply firmware updates, security patches, and other software updates to network equipment to maintain security and performance.
Assist with network configuration, installation, and deployment of new network hardware and systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed and accurate records of network configurations, incidents, and performance statistics.
Prepare reports on network health, outages, performance, and capacity planning for management review.
Create and maintain network topology diagrams and procedural documentation.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the network engineering team to implement network designs and upgrades.
Liaise with third-party service providers for troubleshooting leased lines or any interconnect issues.
Collaborate with the customer service team to resolve user-related network issues efficiently.
Proactive Network Improvement:
Identify potential network improvements, enhancements, and optimizations.
Perform preventive maintenance to mitigate the risk of future network issues or outages.
Conduct regular network audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network operations, NOC, or a similar role within an ISP or telecom company.
Hands-on experience with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei.
