Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing power management at Ewekoro, ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted electricity generation and distribution to plant operations and surrounding communities.
The role includes managing contractual compliance for Wartsila generators, optimizing engine performance and uptime, coordinating scheduled maintenance and major overhauls, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
Additionally, the position requires developing and implementing a robust maintenance master plan for power plant generators.
What you'll be doing
Health, Safety & Environment:
Act in accordance with the safety rules and regulations set up by the Group/plants and must be a good example for the employees to follow.
Create safe work conditions and mobilize all plant employees and on-site contractors on safety at work (behaviors and skills)
Participate in H&S through VPC and BOG.
Create enabling environment for the smooth operations of the Wartsila generators.
Contract Development & Negotiation:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with contractors, suppliers, OEMs, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure contract terms align with company policies, legal standards, and project goals.
Define clear deliverables, KPIs, penalties, warranties, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Contract Administration & Compliance:
Ensure all parties comply with contractual obligations, timelines, and specifications.
Monitor performance of vendors and contractors against contractual commitments.
Manage variations, amendments, and change orders in line with procedures.
Ensure insurance, indemnity, and liability clauses adequately protect the plant.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management:
Serve as the key interface between the plant and external partners, such as EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, utility regulators, and consultants.
Resolve disputes and facilitate communication among internal departments and external stakeholders.
Financial Oversight:
Track contract-related payments, budgets, and milestones.
Ensure proper billing, invoicing, and cost control as per contract terms.
Monitor penalties, liquidated damages, bonuses, and incentives as stipulated in the contracts.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain a complete and updated repository of all contracts, amendments, correspondences, and performance records.
Prepare reports for senior management on contract status, risks, claims, and opportunities.
Claims & Dispute Resolution:
Lead the preparation, submission, and defense of claims (e.g., time extensions, cost overruns).
Support or lead dispute resolution processes, including arbitration or litigation if required.
Support to Plant Operations:
Provide contractual guidance during outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities.
Ensure long-term service agreements (LTSAs), warranty support, and OEM commitments are fulfilled.
Regulatory & Legal Coordination:
Ensure compliance with local and international laws, environmental regulations, and licensing requirements.
Liaise with legal teams to address contractual legal matters.
Continuous Improvement:
Analyze contract outcomes to derive lessons learned.
Recommend improvements in contracting strategies and practices for future projects
Investments & Initiatives:
Liaise with the project team to execute projects within the given budgets, time and scope in every aspect as well as the use of standard process and tools.
Propose and support the implementation of power export to the grid.
Support the business on power and energy projects with a focus on the development.
Sustainability:
Ensure a safety culture with the plants and the Wartsila team
Commit to improve environmental management at all time.
Ensure long-term sustainability power and energy strategy for Sagamu and Ewekoro plant.
Lead a proactive power and energy strategies with relevant external stakeholders (authorities and communities, etc.)
Governance:
Ensure full implementation of regulatory bodies, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; ensure up-to-date technical documentation; optimize the internal processes and structures.

Requirements
Minimum HND in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10 years Manufacturing operations
Excellent Project management skills
Knowledge of Plant codifications.
knowledge of Electric power supply management
Knowledge of Electrical drawings interpretation and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Programmable logic controller (Allen Bradly & Siemens)
Knowledge of Instrumentation and Automation programs editing and modification.
Industrial Automation system certified
Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to ensure that a challenging benefits and capability building agenda is successfully delivered
Highly effective time management, planning and organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and drive tasks to completion in a fixed time-frame and in a pressured environment.
Demonstrated broad understanding of the content, processes and optimization channels.
Ability to deal with ambiguities, conflicts and adversarial relationships
Ability to assess potential and risks associated with plant operations
Proven ability in analysis and interpretation of data
Proven ability to identify problems quickly, make sound judgments, establish and implement solutions.
