Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare. Performing autonomously and following up, the maintenance and correct repair of the equipment in the project/mission and ensuring regularly that the usual logistical maintenance and cleaning are done properly according to MSF standards and procedures, in order to ensure the equipment are in perfect running conditions.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Performing autonomously, all necessary complex / advanced installations, maintenance and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications/training), according to the supervisor’s instructions and executes any needed tests after any repair or maintenance. Including the following functions:
Qualified Electrician
Qualified Mechanic
Biomed Technician
Making suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in MSF electrical installations, equipment and/or vehicles and assisting logistics department for any relative work needed.
Managing the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out physical stock inventories, executing orders necessary for renewing stock, avoiding any shortage.
Responsible for the equipment and tools, including extinguishers, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining, and renewing them when necessary and keeping the inventory updated.
Keeping working area clean and tidy.
Ensuring that all record sheets and books related to logistical maintenance are always completed.
Preparing needed reports before and after any repair or required maintenance.
Immediately informing the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly regarding damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
Working in collaboration with other specialised technicians and workers, if necessary, or managing a small team of workers.
MinimumRequired Skills and Qualifications:
Education
Essential: Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and other relevant Field) and/or all recognise MSF Trainings in the assigned Technical Area.
Experience:
Essential: Minimum of two years specialized Logistics experience
Desirable: Previous experience with MSF or other NGO in a developing-country context is an added advantage.
Languages:
English Language is essential.
MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities:
Supervise and support users of technical equipment (biomedical, electrical, cold chain, construction, etc.).
Carry out inventories of electrical and biomedical stock in coordination with the Supply team;
Train the Logistics team on best practices;
Improve user autonomy in the operation and basic maintenance of biomedical equipment within the project;
Ensure daily monitoring of breakdowns and maintenance of ITFC and ATFC biomedical devices;
Implement standard biomedical management procedures and provide user training accordingly;
Must have good knowledge in International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines
Develop, implement, and regularly review the chronogram of technical activities.
Must have good knowledge in International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines
MSF electrical knowledge is a desired knowledge
Must have good knowledge in construction and make the follow up
Must have good knowledge in Plumbery
Supporting the Log Supervisor in its daily routine task – also as back up.
