Job Title: Operator, Turbine

Location: Dangote Cement, Senegal POUT

Job Description

• Is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Power Plant
• Conducts operations and ensure that they are conducted in accordance with the rules

Key Activities and Responsibilities

• Adjust controls to produce the specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of energy between power plants and substations.
• Control the generation of the generator to ensure the consistency of the phase, frequency and voltage of the electricity supplied to the panels.
• Monitor and inspect the equipment and indicators of the plant to detect signs of malfunction.
• Operate or control energy production equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators and reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
• Put backup electric generators into operation in case of emergency and monitor the temperature, production and lubrication of the system.
• Regulate the operation and conditions of equipment, such as water levels, based on data from recording and indication instruments or computers.
• Start or stop generators, auxiliary pumping equipment, turbines and other equipment of the plant, and connect or disconnect the equipment from the circuits.
• The turbine start sequence must be followed in accordance with the standard operational procedure (SOP).
• Assist in the troubleshooting and inspection of programmable controllers, plant control systems and distributed control systems, including the replacement of control boards and wiring terminations.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the power plant and control room.
• Perform any other tasks that could be assigned by the control room engineer, as required.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the field of power plants

Skills:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Mastery of Microsoft Office tools.

HSE skills related to the position:

• Know how to use firefighting means;
• Know the hazard pictograms;
• Know how to dispense first aid gestures;
• Know the OHS risks related to its activities as well as the control provisions;
• Know the environmental aspects and impacts related to its activities as well as the provisions of control;
• Know the right gestures and postures related to the handling of loads;
• Know the provisions on waste management.
