We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Legal

Location: Utako, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

• We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Head of Legal to lead all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across the company’s operations.
• This role will serve as the principal legal advisor to the CEO and management, ensuring that all transactions, partnerships, and projects are structured, executed, and protected at the highest professional standard.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Strategy:

• Act as the chief legal advisor to the company.
• Provide clear, practical, and business-focused legal guidance on all company matters.
• Structure and advise on:
• Joint Venture Agreements (JVAs)
• Development and construction contracts
• Investment and financing arrangements

Contract Management:

• Draft, review, and negotiate all contracts including:
• Construction and turnkey agreements
• Consultant and vendor contracts
• Property sales and off-plan agreements
• Ensure all contracts are robust, enforceable, and risk-protected

Real Estate & Land Matters:

• Lead all legal aspects of:
• Land acquisition and title verification
• Due diligence and title perfection
• Regulatory approvals and documentation
• Liaise with government authorities and land stakeholders

Dispute Resolution:

• Manage all disputes, claims, and litigation matters
• Lead negotiations and settlements where required
• Oversee external counsel to ensure senior-level handling at all times

Compliance & Governance:

• Establish and maintain strong compliance systems
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations
• Support corporate governance and board processes

Strategic & International Support:

• Support cross-border transactions and expansion initiatives
• Work with international advisors where necessary
• Provide legal structure for new markets and partnerships

Requirements

• LL.B (Bachelor of Laws)
• BL (Nigerian Law School)
• Minimum 10–15 years post-call experience
• Strong expertise in:
  • Real Estate Law
  • Corporate & Commercial Law
  • Contract Negotiation
  • Dispute Resolution

Preferred Profile:

• Background in a top-tier law firm or as Head of Legal
• Proven experience handling high-value transactions and complex deals
• Strong exposure to:
  • Real estate development projects
  • Financial institutions and structured deals
  • Government and regulatory bodies

Core Competencies:

• Excellent negotiation skills

• Ability to operate independently at executive level
• Integrity, discretion, and sound judgment
