The Head of Distribution is responsible for driving film sourcing, booking, and performance optimization across all cinema locations within the chain.
The role focuses on securing commercially viable content (local and international), maximizing box office revenue, and ensuring optimal screen utilization across diverse Nigerian markets.
The position plays a critical role in bridging relationships between distributors, studios, and internal cinema operations.
Key Responsibilities
Film Booking and Content Strategy:
Lead weekly and long-term film booking strategy across all cinema sites
Curate a balanced film slate including Nollywood, Hollywood, Bollywood, and independent titles
Align film selection with regional audience preferences
Distributor and Studio Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with Nollywood producers, international studios, and distribution companies
Negotiate film rental terms, revenue share agreements, and screening conditions
Secure early access to high-demand titles and exclusive releases where possible
Box Office Performance Optimization:
Monitor daily and weekly box office performance across all locations
Adjust showtimes, screen allocation, and film rotations based on demand trends
Drive occupancy rates and yield per screen
Release Planning and Execution:
Coordinate national and regional film release schedules
Optimize release timing based on local events, holidays, and competitive titles
Ensure smooth rollout of premieres and blockbuster releases across cinemas
Collaboration with Marketing and Operations:
Work closely with marketing teams to align campaigns with film releases
Support localized promotions to boost underperforming titles
Coordinate with cinema managers to ensure seamless scheduling and execution
Revenue and Commercial Management:
Own and drive box office revenue targets for the chain
Develop pricing strategies including peak and off-peak pricing, premium formats, and group sales
Identify opportunities for alternative content such as concerts, sports screenings, and special events.
Data Analytics and Market Intelligence:
Analyze audience behavior, genre performance, and seasonal trends
Track competitor cinema programming and pricing strategies
Use insights to continuously refine film booking decisions
Regional Optimization:
Customize film lineups based on location-specific demand patterns
Ensure underperforming sites receive tailored programming support
Drive growth in emerging cinema markets outside Lagos.
Team Leadership:
Lead the central distribution and programming team
Set clear KPIs and performance expectations
Train cinema managers on programming principles and reporting standards.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Film, or related field, MBA is an advantage
8 to 12 years or more experience in cinema operations, film distribution, or media
Strong understanding of the Nigerian film market, especially Nollywood dynamics
Proven experience managing film booking and distributor relationships.
