We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

Location: Ogere-Remo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities
Legal Due Diligence:

• Conduct legal due diligence on lands intended for purchase or sale, including:
  • Verification of land ownership
  • Review of land history records
  • Checking for disputes, encumbrances, or mortgages

Legal Documentation:

• Draft, review, and manage legal documents related to land transactions, including:
  • Deed of Assignment
  • Contract of Sale
  • Land Purchase Agreement
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Land Title Processing:

• Process or assist with land title documentation and government approval procedures, including:
  • Certificate of Occupancy (C of O / CFO)
  • Excision
  • Gazette

Government Liaison:

• Communicate and coordinate with government authorities regarding land approval processes, including:
  • Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey
  • Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development

Dispute Management:

• Handle legal disputes related to land matters, including land ownership disputes, encroachment issues, and contract disputes.

Advisory & Negotiation:

• Participate in land transaction negotiations, provide legal advice, and manage legal risks.

Compliance:

• Ensure all land transactions and development activities comply with Nigerian laws and regulations.

Team Management:

• Manage the legal team, provide training, and coordinate legal matters within the company.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in land or real estate law.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or higher qualification.
• Must be qualified to practice law in Nigeria and registered with the Nigerian Bar Association.
• Strong familiarity with:
  • Land law
  • Real estate law
  • Contract law
  • Land registration procedures
• Familiarity with Nigerian land approval and title processes, including:
  • Charting
  • Survey verification
  • Land registration
  • Certificate of Occupancy (C of O)
• Strong legal analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with the following will be given preference:

• Experience working with land development companies
• Familiarity with land transaction processes
• Experience dealing with government land approvals

Salary
N300,000 - N600,000 per month.
