Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background to lead the rehabilitation and expansion of water treatment plants.
The ideal candidate must have successfully managed similar treatment plant upgrade or expansion projects, including experience on donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government infrastructure projects.
The role requires strong technical expertise in electromechanical systems, leadership capabilities, stakeholder coordination, and strict compliance with regulatory and donor requirements.
The position involves frequent travel within Nigeria for site supervision and stakeholder engagement.
Lead the end-to-end rehabilitation and expansion of water treatment plant facilities.
Develop project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocation strategies.
Oversee plant upgrade activities including installation, testing, and commissioning.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Technical Oversight (Electrical/Mechanical):
Provide technical leadership on electromechanical components including pumps, motors, switchgear, transformers, MCC panels, generators, SCADA systems, pipelines, and treatment equipment.
Review and approve engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and contractor submissions.
Oversee installation, alignment, calibration, and commissioning of plant equipment.
Ensure integration of new systems with existing infrastructure during expansion of works.
Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance:
Supervise contractors and technical teams during plant rehabilitation.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards and manufacturer specifications.
Conduct inspections, performance testing, and commissioning procedures.
Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
Stakeholder & Donor Management:
Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies, donor organizations, consultants, and contractors.
Prepare and present technical progress reports, financial updates, and risk assessments.
Coordinate audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Ensure adherence to donor safeguard policies and procurement guidelines.
Risk & Compliance Management:
Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks.
Manage contract performance and change orders.
Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulatory standards and funding agency requirements.
BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, including substantial experience managing water or waste water treatment plant rehabilitation, upgrade, or expansion projects.
Demonstrated experience handling donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government infrastructure projects is mandatory.
Professional Certification (Compulsory):
Registered with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) – Mandatory.
Active member of NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers) – Mandatory.
PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certification is an added advantage.
Technical Competencies:
Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and plant operations.
Experience with pumps, motors, control panels, instrumentation, SCADA, and power distribution systems.
Familiarity with rehabilitation of aging infrastructure and system integration.
Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
Understanding of Nigerian electrical regulations and international standards.

N600,000 - N800,000 / Month (Commensurate with experience).
