Job Description

• A Steward maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in restaurants, hotels, or ships, acting as a crucial support role in the hospitality industry. Key duties include cleaning dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, while ensuring that service areas, dining rooms, and restrooms are clean and properly stocked.
• Stewards play a key behind-the-scenes role in ensuring that service is seamless and that hygiene standards are met.

Core Responsibilities

• Sanitation & Cleaning: Washing dishes, silverware, and glassware, along with cleaning kitchen equipment and work surfaces to meet sanitation standards.
• Dining Support: Setting tables, clearing dirty dishes from tables, and maintaining overall restaurant appearance.
• Inventory Maintenance: Stocking service stations with supplies and, in some settings, assisting with inventory management of kitchen supplies.
• Guest Service (Front of House): Greeting guests, seating them, taking reservations, and providing water or basic service.
• Back of House Assistance: Supporting chefs and cooks with basic food preparation, such as cleaning vegetables or preparing simple dishes.

Skills and Requirements

• Candidates should possess relevant qualifications with 2-3 years experience.
• Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (like food trays or crates), and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Hygiene & Safety Knowledge: Understanding health regulations, proper cleaning chemical usage, and safety procedures.
• Interpersonal Skills: Being polite and professional, as they are often the first person guests see.
