Job Summary

• The Head of Accounts will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the supermarket, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to drive financial efficiency in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and financial operations of the supermarket
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Monitor daily sales, cash flow, and revenue reconciliation across outlets
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and proper documentation
• Supervise and guide the accounts team to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Implement cost control measures to improve profitability
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Monitor inventory-related financial activities and ensure proper valuation
• Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
• Cash flow management efficiency
• Cost control and profit optimization
• Compliance with regulatory and audit standards
• Effectiveness of financial processes and control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
• Professional certification (ICAN/ACCA) is required
• 5 - 8 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in retail or FMCG
• Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and compliance
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Experience handling high-volume transactions is an advantage.
