Description
The organization is seeking a visionary and execution- driven General Manager to lead its subsidiary into its next phase of growth and operational excellence.
The General Manager is responsible for leading the business unit as a commercially viable, operationally efficient, and strategically alignedenterprise.
This role carries full accountability for profitability, client portfolio decisions, operational oversight, regulatory compliance, and workforce capability development.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a business leadership role requiring equal strength in commercial judgement and operational discipline.
Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Commercial Strategy:
Define and execute the strategic direction for the manufacturing unit.
Oversee business development and deal sourcing to secure profitable and strategically aligned opportunities.
Approve and prioritize production based on margin, capacity, and long-term positioning.
Establish pricing frameworks that protect profitability while remaining competitive.
Build and maintain senior relationships with key clients and partners.
Financial Ownership (P&L):
Own the full P&L for the manufacturing division.
Develop annual budgets and monitor financial performance against targets.
Drive cost discipline across procurement, production, and overhead structures.
Identify opportunities to improve contribution margins and operational leverage.
Approve major operational expenditures and investments.
Operational Oversight:
Provide executive oversight to the Factory Operations team, ensuring production aligns with commercial objectives.
Ensure the factory operates with strong planning, predictable output, and minimal disruption.
Monitor capacity utilization and guide expansion or optimization decisions.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and speed.
Compliance, Governance & External Relations:
Ensure full compliance with labour laws, safety standards, environmental regulations, and ethical sourcing requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, auditors, and industry associations.
Protect the organisation from operational and reputational risk through strong governance practices.
People Leadership & Capability Building:
Build a high-performance leadership team across operations, commercial, compliance, and training functions.
Oversee workforce planning to ensure the factory has the skills required for current and future demand.
Champion structured training programs and technical capability development.
Drive succession planning for critical technical and leadership roles.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Reporting:
Provide executive leadership with clear visibility into performance, risks, and growth opportunities.
Translate operational realities into strategic recommendations.
Use data to support decision-making and long-term investment planning.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
Master’s degree will be desirable
Minimum of 8 years in a leadership role, with proven experience managing factory operations at scale.
Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated P&L ownership.
Proven ability to scale operations while maintaining quality and cost discipline.
Experience managing cross-functional leaders.
Deep understanding of supply chain, production economics, and factory workflows.
Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution-focused levels.
Proficiency in ERP platforms and familiarity with digital manufacturing tools, production dashboards, or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) systems.
Decisive, structured thinker with strong risk judgement.
