Vestates was born on the 19th March 2013 as a private Limited Liability company, to launch out into the real estate and property management services space. Our aim over the years has been to provide complete real estate services. These include the sale and lease of residential and commercial properties, and long-term property management within Nigeria and Internationally.

From our early days of operation, we have focused on using technology to compete and create a niche for ourselves in the Nigerian real estate industry. Unfortunately, we had to step down to a more analogue approach if we were to work with other stakeholders in the real estate space in Nigeria. We dare say that, Vestates was ahead of its time in that regard.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Facility Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Facilities Manager

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Facility Officer to support the maintenance, operations, and management of our facilities.
  • The successful candidate will assist in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our facilities

About the role

  • Provide excellent customer service to occupants and stakeholders.
  • Planning and coordinating installations, refurbishments, and maintenance schedules
  • Ensuring that buildings are well-functioning and safe and that all assets meet building regulations
  • Develop and implement facility management policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on facility maintenance, repairs, and operations
  • Reviewing internal and external risk assessments and approving or denying activities.
  • To show work understanding of electrical, plumbing, and basic mechanical systems and to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all utilities and services within the Employer’s managed facilities.
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing the work of contractors and vendors.
  • To show versatility in all maintenance processes and to be able to develop and implement new procedures, carry out inspections, report, and budget for reoccurring and unplanned repairs and maintenance duties.
  • Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies, and optimising equipment use to reduce costs
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and industry standards
  • Supervising facilities staff and external contractors. (Cleaners and security guards)
  • To be in charge of checking in and checking out of guests in both the employer's short- and long-term stay units and to ensure that the service runs smoothly and that existing tenants experience maximum value in the facilities.
  • And to do such other duties as are necessary and reasonable for the carrying out of the above responsibilities or to perform such other duties as are reasonably incidental to the job of a facility officer in other reputable organizations.
  • To perform all such other lawful duties as may be assigned to the Employee by the Employer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field or experience in facility management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in project management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in facility management, maintenance, or operations
  • Experience in working with a property company
  • Proven track record of managing budgets, supervising staff, and coordinating contractors
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral Communication.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of facility management principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, in person and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
  • Very strong negotiation skills
  • Time management skills including being able to handle a complex, varied workload.

Commercial awareness:

  • Attention to detail but also the ability to see the bigger picture
  • The ability to lead and manage teams and projects.
