GEOMETRIC POWER is the pioneer in Nigerian Power Industry. We pride ourselves in placing the first Independent Power transmission Station in the country, as well as being one of the first companies involved in urban electrification. In terms of power generation, we brought in the first high efficiency combined emergency power station in 2001 for Abuja. The 22 MW Emergency Power Station in Abuja guaranteed the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) the supply of 15MW. While in operation, the power station successfully supplied uninterrupted power to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (formerly National Electric Power Authority) to serve a dedicated distribution network within Abuja and its environs.

1.) Operator (Forklift)

Job Description

• Reports to Mechanical Maint. Engineer / Technician.
• Maintains a license as per the local regulations to be able to operate the Machine.
• Follows all EHS Policies / instructions and all administrative rules.
• Be able to understand lifting instructions / signs marked on the packages. Even if not then keep in mind the fragility / delicacy / MSDS requirement of the equipment while lifting and unloading.
• The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count goods.
• The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
• Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage / work locations.
• Efficiently stack and store the goods in the appropriate areas.
• He is responsible for getting the vehicle maintained routinely and in breakdowns.
• Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas to the area of work / usage of the product.
• Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.
• Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
• On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
• Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSH and MSDS Standards.
• Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.
• Follows all rules related to Discipline and Order and Security Procedure.
• In case of any incident or accident he must be able to report to the EHS Manager / other relevant Officers as soon as possible.

Job Qualification

• Certified Forklift and Crane Operator
• Minimum 3-5 years working experience in installation/fabrication Company or similar industry.

2.) Welder/Fabricator

Job Description

• Reports to Mech. Maint. Engineer / Technician.
• Tig and Mig weld mild steel, steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Can do the welding of high pressure joints.
• Square up and weld various geometries of components.
• Understand various weld form symbols on blue prints and understand size of fillet forms.
• Weld both vertical and horizontal plane geometry.
• Understand various edge preps before welding.
• Good understanding of set up techniques.
• Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
• Understands the safety requirements and hazards of the welding process.
• Strictly adheres to the Safety Procedures and SOPs.
• Knows the procedure for incident reporting to the concerned Officials.
• Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
• Ability to read and write to keep daily records
• Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
• Knowledge of record keeping systems
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Report any required or preventative maintenance to supervisor / technician.
• Can take care of all welding equipments and gadgets. Be able to get done preventative maintenance, if any required.
• Follows all rules of discipline, Order and Conduct.

Job Qualification

• Certified in Arc, Argon and pressure welding.
• 3 years working experience in installation / fabrication Company or similar industry

3.) Plant Operator

Job Description

• Reportable to CR engineer.
• Maintain an hourly record of generated Kilo Watts, Auxiliary Consumption, Power Sent Out to all outgoing feeders.
• Maintain Control Room Log Book and other documents.
• To start, stop, synch and de-synch of gas turbine, bop and electrical system according to respective SOPs.
• Must be fully familiar with the Blackout situations and must be able to safely start units from this situation.
• Must be able to manage safe shutdown of the units in emergency situations and break downs.
• To maintain and establish the operating units parameters in normal operating range from HMI.
• Ensure 100% error free function of all energy meters, volt meters, ampere meters, relays, transmitters, and protections & control instrumentations, HT / LT feeders and breakers, timely inform to the shift in charge for required repair or replacement.
• Responsible for all Lock Out / Tag Out activities of relevant Feeders and Breakers when required.
• Follow the instructions of Shift In charge and immediately inform about any abnormal operating conditions observed. Operate within prescribed operating parameters.
• Ensure the operate ability of Black start facility; periodically check its Fuel, Lube. Water levels.
• Must be familiar with the protection relays and be able to analyze faults with respect to the operation of these relays. Also he be able to diagnose system faults on operation of distance relay.
• Check and maintain the Tank levels, such as; Raw water, Demin water, HSD oil and lube oil. fresh water supply pressure, Cooling water pressure and temperature, and De mineralized water pressure being indicated on display screen in the control room. Ensure 100% proper function of all Transmitters and control switches.
• Ensure the proper function and operate ability of all Circulating and supply Pumps, Motors, Boilers’ Cooling tower fans, Air compressors and other installed equipment.
• Must be fully familiar with the HV, MV and LV system and be able to take due precaution while operating them.
• Maintain coordination and very effective communication with field operator and optimally manage the operating load during parallel operation or island mode.
• Prepare the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Generation and consumption Report.
• Switch off, rack out, rack in the outgoing HT, LT breaker trolley for maintenance work on demand of power plant (E&I) team and substations team. Participate in Maintenance work and confirm the operate ability of the component / equipment repaired, replaced as completion of maintenance work.
• Follow the instruction from superiors. Maintain clean work places and adhere to safe Power Plant work practice.
• Well versed with co-ordinated work practices amongst operation and all Maintenance Sections.
• Well versed with the requirement of Order and Discipline at the Plant.
• Must be fully familiar with the emergency (e.g. Fire or Bomb) situations, raising alarm when required and guide safe Evacuation of employees. Also manage safe operation of the Plant in such situations.
• Detailed routine inspection of all equipments in field at regular intervals.
• Maintain all field operation logs and point out abnormalities, if any.
• Ensure that EHS SOPs, Rules and Procedures are strictly adhered to. Any EHS event, it should be formally reported (especially in evening and night) when EHS personnel are off from duty.
• Any job (other than mentioned above) if and when assigned by the Operation Engineer / CR Engineer or Plant Manager.

Job Requirement

• Diploma in Engineering or Its equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in power plant industry operation. Experience on similar Plant especially involving LM 6000 GTs will be preferred.
• Training in Industrial Safety and Fire fighting is added advantage

4.) Machinist

Job Description

• Reports to Mechanical Technician.
• Operates Machine Tools rightly, correctly and efficiently and works out the required job with reasonable accuracy.
• All safety and PPEs practices are followed to avoid any incident / accident.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
• Position and fasten work-pieces. Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
• Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
• Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment.
• Well versed and strictly adhere to all EHS SOPs and Safety Standards.
• Well versed with all rules of discipline, order and conduct and strictly adheres to them.

Job Requirement

• Certified Lathe, Drilling, Milling and Shaping Machinist.
• 3 years working experience in installation/fabrication Company or similar industry
