Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Associate

Job Purpose
The Associate will be directly responsible for strict compliance with the requirements of Climate Change Act, Environmental Management System and reporting ESG initiatives and strategies
Core Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
To collect and gather required activity data for calculating the greenhouse gas emission
To analyze and interpret data related to sustainability performance and communicate progress to line manager
To create awareness via sensitization programs to concerned stakeholders on ESG, Environmental sustainability and Environmental Management standards
The staff will work with line manager on implementation of developed strategies to minimize environmental, social, and economic impact, reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability practices
To ensure that the organization adheres to relevant environmental regulations and standards
To engage sustainability team in conjunction with line manager on ensuring sustainability practices is in place
To ensure the use of sustainable materials and products in the organization’s operations
To ensure that the organization’s operations are fair and ethical and that it contributes positively to the communities in which it operates
To work with different departments within the organization to integrate sustainability into all aspects of business.
Conduct environmental audits to identify areas for improvement and compliance with environmental regulations and climate change Act
To train employees on sustainability measures
To gather related ESG and environmental sustainability data for management review meeting
To support sustainability initiatives across the stores (Energy saving, water-use reduction etc)

Job Specifications
Educational Requirements:
A minimum of a B.Sc. / HND in Biochemistry; Food Science & Tech; Microbiology and other related science field
Professional Requirements:
Possession of any relevant certification such as EMS, EnMS, QMS. Courses on Carbon Emission Calculation. Certified Lead Auditor or internal auditor in any of the above-mentioned certifications is an added advantage
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar role
Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of ISO14001 in relation to food industry and climate change act
Knowledge on carbon emission calculation and environmental sustainability practices/initiatives/innovations
Knowledge of MS office particularly MS Word, Excel and Power Point
Knowledge of relevant Environmental regulatory standards and requirements
Knowledge of Quality Assurance policies and procedures and Safety – Food, Fire, Occupational Health and Environment
Knowledge of tools (Canva or other tools for design), methods and concepts of quality assurance
Knowledge of data analysis skills and statistical analysis
