College Librarian at Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba

Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba began in 1987 at the former Asaba technical College, (ATC) at its temporary site. Asaba is a rapidly developing Urban Centre and the administrative headquarters of Delta State. The permanent site of the college is along Asaba/Ibusa Road. The College consist of the School of Education, the School of Business Education, the School of Technical Education, the School of Vocational Education and the School of Computer and Science Education. The basic mission of the college is to improve the quality of Technical Education.

Job Title: College Librarian 

Location: Asaba, Delta

Duties

• The Librarian shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library and co-ordination of the library services in the teaching units of the College.
• Forming overall library policy, personal contact and liaising with departments on book requirements.
• Preparation of library budgets
• Giving professional advice on library matters
• Performing any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

• The candidate must possess a good Bachelor's Degree with Master in Library Science (MS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least filteen (15) years cognate experience and registraton with Professional Library Body:
• Or a PhD in Library and Information Science with at least twelve (12) years cognate work experience with evidence of registration with Professional Library Body.
• He / She must possess proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
• Candidate must present evidence of sound human relations, professional competence, industrial integrity, efficient management of human and material resources.
• Candidate must be a Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for a period of not less than five (5) years in a College of Education system
• Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journal equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer
• Candidate must not be above the age of fifty-nine (59) at the time of taking up the appointment.

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years only. beginning from the date of the appointment and on the terms  and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
• The salary / remunerations are as contained in the Conditions of Service for College Librarians of Federal Colleges of Education of humanities management sciencies.     
• Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journal equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer
• Candidate must not be above the age of fifty-nine (59) at the time of taking up the appointment
