Job Title: Project Officer
Location: Mgbirichi, Imo
Job Summary
The project officer supports the operational implementation of project activities and ensures smooth cooperation between the various stakeholders.
He or she is responsible for planning and tracking measures, coordinating the implementation of training courses and workshops, and supporting reporting.
In addition, he or she contributes to the documentation and analysis of project results.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Project Implementation & Coordination:
Support the implementation of approved project activities in line with work plans, budgets, and donor agreements.
Coordinate day-to-day project activities with project staff, health facilities, community structures, and implementing partners.
Support the organization of outreaches, trainings, meetings, and community engagement activities.
Assist the Project Manager in tracking implementation progress and following up
on action points.
Field Monitoring & Supervision:
Conduct regular field visits to supported health facilities, outreach sites, and communities to monitor project activities.
Support supervision of service delivery activities, including outreach programmes, referrals, and community mobilisation.
Identify implementation challenges and report findings promptly to the Project Manager.
Provide onsite support to project staff and partners to ensure adherence to project guidelines and quality standards.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting Support:
Support routine data collection, verification, and documentation in line with project monitoring frameworks.
Assist in maintaining accurate records for key indicators related to service delivery, training, inclusion, and community engagement.
Contribute to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative reports.
Support baseline surveys, assessments, and evaluations when required.
Financial & Administrative Support
Support tracking of project activities and expenditures against approved budgets and work plans.
Assist with activity documentation, filing, and maintenance of project records.
Support logistics for trainings, workshops, meetings, and field activities.
Ensure timely submission of activity reports, field visit reports, and supporting documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
Liaise with supported health facilities, local government health authorities, and
community leaders at operational level.
Support coordination and communication with donors, international partners, and other stakeholders as delegated by the Project Manager.
Participate in local coordination meetings and technical forums related to eye health when required.
Inclusion, Safeguarding & Compliance:
Support the integration of disability inclusion, gender equality, and community participation in project activities.
Ensure adherence to organizational safeguarding policies and donor requirements during implementation.
Promote accountability and respectful engagement with beneficiaries and communities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
Additional certification or training in project management is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience supporting health or development projects, preferably eye health or disability-inclusive programmes.
Experience working with local NGOs, health facilities, or government health departments.
Previous experience with donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of inclusive eye health or public health programming.
Experience in data collection, basic analysis, and report writing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with field-level monitoring and documentation processes.

Strong organizational and coordination skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
Commitment to disability inclusion, gender equity, and ethical project implementation.
Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
