Maintenance Officer (BGH Abuja) at the Bible Society of Nigeria

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) believes the Bible is for all Nigerians. Traditionally, the work of the BSN is to make the Bible available and affordable. The Society has come to see that provision of the printed text, however well-presented, is only a part of the task. To achieve the most effective and meaningful distribution, the BSN also recognizes the need to develop programmes, using all forms of media to stimulate and facilitate encounter with the biblical text in Churches and public places. We actualize our mission through five major functions, namely: Translation, Publishing, Distribution, Programmes and Fundraising.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Maintenance Officer

Location: Palmgroove / Onipanu / Ketu / Oshodi / Iyana-Ipaja / Ayobo / Abule-Egba - Lagos

Purpose of the Role

• To ensure that all guest house facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are properly maintained, safe, and fully functional at all times by promptly identifying, repairing, and preventing faults in rooms, public areas, and service facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & Operations:

• Ensure prompt servicing and adequate maintenance of all guest house facilities.
• Maintain functional building systems, including electrical, electronic, plumbing, and related installations.
• Implement effective preventive maintenance practices to avoid system breakdowns.

Utilities & Power Management:

• Ensure adequate lighting systems across the facility.
• Maintain a constant water and power supply.
• Oversee the management and maintenance of heavy-duty generators (350 KVA).
• Ensure a regular supply of quality diesel with accurate records of supply and usage.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

• Identify faults early and carry out timely repairs.
• Monitor facility infrastructure to prevent operational disruptions.
• Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety and operational standards.

Personnel Specifications
Educational Qualification:

• B.Sc. / HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III will be an added advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years’ practical/cognate experience.
• Good knowledge and experience in managing heavy-duty generators (350 KVA).

Technical Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, building maintenance, and installations.
• Ability to implement preventive maintenance strategies effectively.
• Good record-keeping ability (especially diesel supply and usage logs).
