Job Title: Senior Accountant (Automobile Industry)

Location: Mainland, Lagos (Interstate Travel Required)
Employment Type: Full-time

Travel: Interstate travel required (with travel allowance)

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations within our automobile business.
• The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, manage inventory and cost accounting for vehicles and spare parts, and provide strategic financial insights to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and local regulatory standards
• Manage tax filings (VAT, WHT, CIT) and liaise with regulatory authorities.

Inventory & Cost Accounting (Automobile Focus):

• Manage inventory of vehicles, spare parts, and accessories
• Track Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and profit margins
• Conduct stock valuation and reconciliation
• Analyze landed costs (import duties, shipping, clearing expenses).

Accounts Management:

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable
• Ensure timely invoicing and collections
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

Budgeting & Financial Planning:

• Develop and monitor departmental budgets
• Conduct variance analysis with actionable recommendations
• Support financial forecasting and strategic planning.

Internal Controls & Audit:

• Maintain strong internal control systems
• Coordinate internal and external audits
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Payroll & Expense Management:

• Supervise payroll processing and statutory deductions
• Monitor expenses and enforce cost efficiency

Business Support:

• Provide financial insights for pricing and procurement decisions
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, and operations teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
• Inventory reconciliation efficiency
• Reduction in financial discrepancies
• Compliance with tax and regulatory requirements
• Cost control effectiveness.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
• Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is mandatory.

Experience:

• 5 - 10 years of accounting experience
• Minimum of 2–3 years in automobile, manufacturing, or distribution industry.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting
• Expertise in inventory and cost accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and leadership abilities
• High attention to detail.

Added Advantage:

• Experience in automobile dealership or spare parts distribution
• Knowledge of importation and logistics costing.
