Job Title: Senior Compliance Officer

About the role

• The Senior Compliance Officer will play a pivotal role in managing the bank's regulatory and compliance obligations.
• You will ensure that all business activities align with applicable laws, CBN guidelines, and internal policies, while proactively identifying compliance risks before they become issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and CBN guidelines to ensure full organisational compliance
• Develop, implement, and update compliance policies, frameworks, and controls
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments across all business units
• Oversee AML, KYC, and CFT programmes, ensuring they meet regulatory standards
• Liaise with the CBN, NDIC, FIRS, and other regulatory bodies on compliance matters
• Coordinate regulatory examinations, prepare responses, and track implementation of findings
• Provide compliance training and awareness programmes to staff at all levels
• Report compliance status and key risk indicators to the Chief Compliance Officer and executive leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Minimum of 7 years' compliance experience within a bank or licensed financial institution
• Strong knowledge of CBN regulations, BOFIA, AMLA, and relevant Nigerian financial services laws
• Experience managing AML, KYC, and CFT compliance programmes
• Familiarity with digital banking compliance requirements and fintech regulatory frameworks
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or CIBN membership will be a strong advantage
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills
• High attention to detail and sound professional judgement
