We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head, Credit & Lending

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

The Role

• The Head, Credit and Lending will lead the design and execution of the bank's credit strategy.
• You will oversee loan origination, credit underwriting, portfolio management, and collections, ensuring a healthy, growing, and well-managed credit book.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the bank's credit and lending strategy in alignment with overall business goals
• Oversee the end-to-end loan lifecycle from origination, underwriting, and disbursement to monitoring and recovery
• Establish credit policies, underwriting standards, and approval frameworks
• Drive the development of digital credit products for retail, SME, and corporate segments
• Monitor portfolio quality, manage NPL ratios, and implement proactive risk mitigation measures
• Collaborate with technology teams to integrate data analytics and AI into credit decisioning
• Ensure adherence to CBN lending guidelines and internal credit policies
• Lead, mentor, and build the capacity of the credit and lending team

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in credit and lending within a bank or financial institution
• Proven track record of building and managing large, diversified credit portfolios
• Strong knowledge of digital lending models and alternative credit scoring methodologies
• Familiarity with credit risk tools, loan management systems, and analytics platforms
• Professional certifications in credit risk management (e.g., CIBN, CFA, ACCA) will be an added advantage
• Deep understanding of CBN regulatory requirements for credit
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
