Job Title:Production Technologist
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Supervisory Level: Individual Contributor
Job Purpose
The Production Technologist will work within a dynamic, high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team, providing technical expertise across one of the following areas, depending on either role assignment below:
Responsibilities
Studies Production Technologist:
Analyse and interpret production performance and subsurface data to support development planning and decision making.
Build, maintain, and update integrated production system models for production forecasting and scenario analysis.
Develop completion strategies for wells and field development plans.
Manage Production Technology data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and proper storage within corporate databases.
Provide Production Technology input to business planning and governance activities, including:
Development Planning
Business Planning
Hydrocarbon Maturation and Commercialisation (HCM)
Annual Production and Reserves Processes (ARPR)
Unitisation
Stakeholder engagement
Project planning and budgeting
Deliver high quality field and project development plans and technical documentation, and present work for internal and external review and approval.
Coordinate QA/QC activities and work closely with Discipline Principals and Coaches to ensure technical assurance and compliance.
Operations Production Technologist:
Ensure wells are completed as designed, delivering asset integrity, planned production potential, and recoverable volumes.
Ensure Production Technology inputs are fully and accurately captured in well proposals.
Ensure full compliance with well integrity standards throughout the well lifecycle.
Ensure compliant resource volume estimation and reporting for assigned fields.
Be accountable for the quality of Production Technology delivery during new drilling, workover, and intervention activities.
Apply appropriate and emerging technologies to support well completions, interventions, and workovers.
Actively drive HSSE leadership within asset well operations, ensuring safe and compliant execution.
Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline with at least 9 years relevant work experience.
Relevant experience in completion design, artificial lift, sand control management, production enhancement and optimisation, and well integrity management.
Demonstrated expertise in completion and well design, including definition of well operating envelopes and preparation of Production Technology inputs to well proposals.
Hands on experience in sand control design and artificial lift systems, with particular strength in gas lift design.
Proven capability in well integrity management across the well lifecycle.
Experience supporting well delivery activities including drilling, recompletions, and workovers is an advantage.
Proficient in Production Technology software, particularly:
PROSPER
IPSM
SPOT
WellCat
Knowledge of OFM would be an added advantage.
The role requires demonstrated competence in the following areas:
Well inflow and outflow modelling
Well inflow enhancement
Well outflow enhancement
Well and completion design
Sand management
Well intervention and workover
Wells, Reservoir and Facilities Management (WRFM)
Well integrity management
Job Dimensions
Support delivery of approximately:
7–10 new drill wells per year
3–4 workover wells per year
3–4 abandonment wells per year
Provide support across three major Asset clusters (Field Management Teams) covering:
~30 active fields (over 60 discovered fields)
~380 wells (producing and shut in with potential)
~180 reservoirs
Operational support for approximately:
2+1 rigs/HWU
5 intervention units.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Good understanding of Subsurface HSE Critical Uncertainties and Design Engineering Practices (DEPs) as they relate to Field Development Planning (FDP) and Well Proposal delivery.
Working knowledge of related Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience disciplines, including Petrophysics (PP), Reservoir Engineering (RE), Production Geology (PG), and Geophysics (GPH).
Ability to work effectively within multi disciplinary, collaborative team environments, including co located resources.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical outcomes and proactively flag key findings to team leads.
Solid understanding of subsurface uncertainties, risks, and technical challenges associated with subsurface and surface development opportunities.
Proven interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
