The Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku is one of the three polytechnics in Delta State, Nigeria, Located in Ogwashi-Uku Delta State, Nigeria. The polytechnic offers National Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas in Art and Design (Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, and General Art), Business (Accountancy, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Mass Communication, Office Technology Management and Production Operations Management), Engineering (Agriculture and Bio-environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Foundry Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Welding and Fabrication) and Applied Sciences (Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics and Hospitality and Tourism Management).

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Ogwashi-Uku, Delta

Job Summary

• The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic and a Principal Officer of the institution.
• He/She is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration, coordination, and control of the financial affairs of the Polytechnic.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Bursar shall:

• Coordinate the preparation of the Polytechnic’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
• Manage and control the finances of the institution in line with extant financial regulations and policies.
• Advise the Rector, Management, and Governing Council on all financial matters.
• Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and timely preparation of financial statements.
• Supervise revenue generation, expenditure control, and investment activities.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements and public financial management standards.
• Maintain effective financial planning, monitoring, and reporting systems.
• Support institutional financial sustainability through prudent resource management.

Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must:

• Possess a good Honours Degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution, or a good Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant discipline with a minimum of Lower Credit.
• Hold a recognized professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Have a minimum of eighteen (18) years post-qualification cognate experience, preferably within a tertiary institution.
• Have attained the rank of Chief Accountant or its equivalent on CONTEDISS 15.
• Be proficient in ICT and modern financial management systems.

Requirements
Applicants must:

• Be persons of proven integrity with demonstrable leadership and managerial qualities.
• Possess a thorough understanding of financial administration within the Polytechnic system.
• Not be more than fifty-nine (59) years of age at the time of assumption of duty.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Be capable of working effectively within regulatory and institutional frameworks.

Terms of Appointment & Conditions of Service

• The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years only.
• Salary and conditions of service shall be as approved for Polytechnics in Nigeria.
