The Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the ideals of self-sustainability, equality and social justice to the members of the society, it was founded in the year 2014 out of the need to give succor and support to the victim of arm conflict and natural disasters in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant (Training on Financial Literacy) 

Locations: Adamawa, Borno, & Yobe.
Employment Type: Full-time

Background

• The Breaking Barriers project seeks to promote economic independence and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states of Northeastern region of Nigeria. Recognizing the barriers PWDs face in accessing financial services, entrepreneurship opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods, the project aims to empower them with practical financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and management skills.
• This consultancy will provide specialized training and guidance to strengthen PWDs’ resilience, dignity, and economic participation.

Objectives of the Consultancy
The overall objective is to design and deliver financial literacy and entrepreneurship training that equips PWDs with knowledge and skills to achieve economic independence. Specific objectives include:

• Enhance PWDs’ understanding of personal finance, savings, budgeting, and responsible borrowing.
• Build capacity in entrepreneurship, small business management, and income-generating activities.
• Promote inclusion by linking PWDs to financial institutions, cooperatives, and community-based savings groups.
• Strengthen knowledge of financial rights, consumer protection, and accessible financial services.
• Provide practical tools for resilience and sustainable livelihood strategies.

Scope of Work
The consultant will:

• Conduct a needs assessment to identify financial literacy gaps among PWDs in BAY states.
• Develop tailored training modules on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and management.
• Deliver interactive workshops and training sessions using inclusive methodologies (sign language, accessible materials, etc.).
• Provide mentorship and coaching support to selected PWD entrepreneurs.
• Establish Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA)
• Facilitate linkages with financial service providers and relevant stakeholders.
• Document lessons learned, success stories, and recommendations for sustainability.

Expected Deliverables:

• Inception report with detailed work plan and training methodology.
• Training curriculum and materials adapted for PWDs.
• Delivery of training sessions across BAY states.
• Post-training evaluation report measuring knowledge gained and behavioral change.
• Final consultancy report including recommendations for scaling and sustainability.

Duration and Location:

• Duration: 4 months: May - August
• Location: Borno (Jere and MMC LGAs), Adamawa (Madagali LGA), and Yobe (Fune LGA) states respectively.

Required Qualifications
The consultant should have:

• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Proven experience in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and livelihood training.
• Demonstrated expertise in disability inclusion and accessible training methodologies.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Northern Nigeria is an added advantage.

Reporting and Supervision:

• The consultant will report to the Project Coordinator of Breaking Barriers and work closely with the Disability Inclusion Project Officers and Monitoring & Evaluation team.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Proposals will be evaluated based on:
• Relevant experience and qualifications (30%)
• Technical approach and methodology (40%)
• Financial proposal (20%)
• Knowledge of disability inclusion and local context (10%).
