Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

• This is an on-site contract role for a Senior Electrical Engineer.
• The position is based in Port Harcourt, where the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading electrical design, engineering, and technical execution on projects.
• Provides oversight on installations, ensures compliance with codes/standards, and supports project delivery from concept through, FEED, DED and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: Senior electrical system design including, power distribution, lighting, arthing/grounding, lightning protection, and control systems.
• Prepare SLDs, schematics, layouts, cable sizing, and load lists.
• Calculations & Studies: Perform and review electrical calculations - load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, lighting, cable sizing, protection coordination, arc flash studies using ETAP/SKM.
• Technical Documentation: Develop/review specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document review for electrical equipment.
• Project Support: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors.
• Support procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Provide technical solutions during installation and startup.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and client standards.
• Conduct design reviews and HAZOP/HAZID participation.
• Site Activities: Support FAT/SAT, troubleshoot field issues, review red-line drawings, and approve as-built documentation.
• Mentorship: Guide junior engineers, check deliverables, and ensure quality/consistency of engineering output.
• Project Controls: Assist with MTOs, BOQs, man-hour estimates, and schedule inputs for electrical scope.

Requirements
Qualifications:

• Education: B.Eng / B.Sc Degree in Electrical Engineering; M.Eng/M.Sc is an advantage.
• Experience: 8-12+ years in electrical engineering, preferably in Oil & Gas, Power, or EPC projects.
• Certifications: COREN, NSE, MNSE. Professional registration required. PMP is a plus.
• Software: Proficient in ETAP, AutoCAD, Dialux, MS Office. PDMS knowledge is an advantage.
• Knowledge: Strong grasp of HT/LT systems, transformers, switchgear, MCC, VFDs, UPS, generators, hazardous area classification
