The Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
The role supports effective financial management by maintaining accurate accounting records, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring timely reporting of financial information.
The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, analytical, trustworthy, and capable of managing financial processes efficiently within a fast-paced operational environment.
Role Responsibilities
Financial Record Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
Record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
Ensure proper filing and documentation of accounting records for audit purposes.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
Assist in the preparation of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts regularly.
Provide financial data and reports to management for decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
Ensure timely processing of invoices, vendor payments, and customer receipts.
Follow up on outstanding payments and maintain accurate debtor records.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor departmental expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
Support cost-control initiatives and identify areas for financial improvement.
Payroll and Statutory Compliance:
Support payroll processing and salary administration.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory deductions.
Prepare and remit statutory payments, including PAYE, pension, VAT, and other regulatory obligations.
Audit and Internal Control:
Support internal and external audit activities.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and financial controls.
Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective measures.
Assist in implementing financial control systems to reduce risk and fraud.
Inventory and Asset Monitoring:
Monitor inventory records and support stock reconciliation processes.
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Support inventory audits and valuation exercises where necessary.
Administrative and Coordination Duties:
Coordinate with other departments on financial documentation and approvals.
Ensure timely submission of financial reports and records.
Support finance-related projects and operational requirements as assigned.
Competencies / Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Experience / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
5–8 years of experience in accounting or finance roles
Experience in hospitality, retail, or multi-business operations is an advantage
Professional accounting certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN) is an added advantage
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems is required
Hotel or hospitality industry experience is an added advantage.
