The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation (TOF) is committed to sustainable digital transformation, empowering communities through education, primary healthcare, and agriculture. Rooted in excellence and social equity, the Foundation strives to make quality education and digital empowerment a universal right, starting in Are-Ekiti and expanding across Nigeria.
Its flagship initiatives are the Gbemisola Olowolafe Memorial ICT Centre (GOMTECH) and the GOM Community Secondary School (GOMCSS) in Are-Ekiti, Ekiti State, both named in honour of Dr. Olowolafe's late wife. The Foundation also runs a portfolio of education programmes including the Olowolafe Fellows, Project Digi-Teach, Springpod, and the Geoscience Lab, with Ekiti State University as a key institutional partner.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Social Media Officer
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Description
The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation is seeking a Social Media Officer to own its digital presence across all active platforms.
The Foundation runs programmes with real outcomes and real beneficiaries.
This role exists to communicate that work clearly, consistently, and in a way that builds genuine audiences rather than just follower counts.
Strong writing is a core requirement and so is the ability to tell the difference between content that informs and content that lands.
The Foundation is not looking for someone to post on schedule, rather, we seek someone who can find the story behind a programme completion rate, turn a field visit into a piece of content worth reading, and hold the Foundation's voice steady across every format and platform.
Experience in the social impact space matters.
The nuances of communicating development work, education outcomes, and community transformation are different from commercial content, and we want someone who already understands that.
The role reports to the Programme Director and works closely with the General Manager and the Foundation's programme teams.
Key Responsibilities
Content & Storytelling:
Own the Foundation's monthly content calendar across all active platforms: Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and TikTok.
Identify and develop impact stories from across the Foundation's programmes, including GOMTECH, Digi-Teach, Springpod, and the Olowolafe Fellows, translating outcomes and human experiences into compelling, shareable content.
Write copy that is clear, purposeful, and platform-appropriate, adapting tone and format for each channel without losing the Foundation's voice.
Produce long-form written content including LinkedIn articles, programme impact summaries, and occasional op-eds for the Foundation's institutional channels.
Brief and quality-control graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to ensure visual output meets the Foundation's brand standards.
From time to time, assist in drafting and scheduling content for the Founder's personal social media channels.
Platform Management and Community Engagement:
Manage the Foundation's presence across all active platforms, ensuring consistent posting frequency, voice, and quality.
Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions promptly and in a manner that reflects the Foundation's values.
Build genuine engagement with the Foundation's audiences: students, educators, donors, government stakeholders, and the broader development community.
Manage sponsored post campaigns to extend the reach of key content to target audiences.
Influencer and Creator Engagement:
Identify and engage content creators and influencers whose audiences align with the Foundation's mission, particularly in the education and social impact space.
Brief creators clearly, review content before publication, and track campaign performance against agreed outcomes.
Reporting & Performance:
Produce a monthly performance report covering reach, engagement, follower growth, and content output across all platforms.
Use data to make recommendations on what to do more of, what to stop, and where to invest paid spend.
Maintain a well-organised digital asset library covering all published content, photography, and graphics.
Qualification & Experience
The following are the requirements for this role:
3 to 5 years of professional experience in social media, digital communications, or content creation.
Demonstrable experience working in or with organisations in the social impact, education, NGO, or development sector.
Exceptional writing skills across long and short form, with a portfolio that demonstrates impact storytelling.
Proven ability to manage multiple platforms simultaneously without compromising consistency or quality.
Comfortable with Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Page tools, and basic analytics platforms.
Proficient in Canva or a comparable design tool for producing social assets.
Advantages include:
prior experience in a foundation, university, or development institution;
familiarity with the Nigerian education or EdTech landscape;
basic video editing;
understanding of paid social campaigns across Meta and LinkedIn;
and an existing network of creators or journalists in the Nigerian digital media space.
What We Offer
Salary: N300,000 - N500,000 monthly.
A front-row seat to one of Nigeria's most ambitious philanthropic education projects, at a formative stage.
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience in the Nigerian NGO and social enterprise sector.
Periodic travel to EKSU (Ado-Ekiti) and Are-Ekiti for content production and community events, with travel costs covered.
A lean, high-trust team where your work will be seen, valued, and credited.
Application Closing Date
29th May, 2026.
